Posting to get some input on whether or not this would be possible because I really have no idea... it seems simple enough in my head though.

Shortly after I bought my GT, I bought the MBRP street kit (which I love)... Now I'm getting ready to buy headers but I don't want to use any that use the factory connect.

The way I see it, this leaves me with two options. The first is to sell my MBRP and get SW catback and headers with performance connect. The second, just hit me today while I was working on the car.

I was thinking of cutting off the end of the H Pipe where the MBRP necks down for the factory connect and replacing it with a few inches of 3" pipe. That way I would be able to connect it to SW LTH with the performance connection.

Thoughts? Can it be done? I do plan on running boost in the future so my concern would be the integrity of the welds in order to make it work.

Here is a photo of the neck down part.

I am doing the same thing. I am buying headers without the lead pipes to make my own lead pipes that will use "v band" clamps after the collector attaching to the lead pipes then running a 3" to 2.5" reducer to "v band" up to my 2.5" x pipe and cat back. In your situation, just cut off the reducers and make it straight 3". Very easy to do.

That's what I figured... Didn't think it would be too difficult. Now to find a local shop to do the work.

BKinn if I was there I would gladly offer to weld up
That exhaust. It's really quite a simple thing to do. And wouldn't require much. Is it all stainless? If so you could easily TIG weld it and it won't leak. Good luck finding a shop that will help you. If you get it done report back. And let us know how it turned out.

I appreciate the offer! It is all stainless, actually. I believe I have found a shop locally that will do it and install my headers for a very reasonable price. However, with the holidays coming up, looks like it'll be at least the new year before it's all said and done. I'll keep ya posted.
