Many of us have cars that have been damaged and repaired before delivery without knowing, the difference here is you get to find out because it's so close to delivery. I found out mine had been repaired weeks after I got it. Go with the advice of inspection before and after but tell them you reserve the right to reject the vehicle. Happens all the time. My daughter's partner works on Audis, BMW's and so on that have been damaged en route and are sold as new by the dealerships. They have to match the orange peel on the rest of the panels. He tells me the paint on my Mustang is way better than the average German produced vehicle.

It will always be an accident damaged car and thus worth far less. If it's on a PCP and going back to Ford in 3 years you could push for a much reduced monthly lease figure.
Alternatively you may find there's a dealer who could fast track a replacement like they did with mine and I will have lost only 2 months.
I would never feel like I was driving a new car and would end up hating it.
Years ago I had a company car which when it went in for service apparently had poorly repaired roof and rear window which I had not noticed. It had been damaged on the transporter, repaired by the dealer and supplied as new and it only became apparent when rust appeared. I hated that car and yet had to keep it a further two years.

Not sure why people are suggesting you try and get something out of the dealer.

Yes, it was in their care, but they're hardly responsible if some clown can't drive properly are they?
I think it depends on how you personally distinguish 'new' goods from 'seller refurbished' and what monitory value you put to that...

First thing I would do is speak with the Mustang care team and let them know what has happened. This will then help you to prioritise the outcome you want;

1) The parts ordered and replaced asap OR
2) A new car ordered with a high priority and while you wait, another mustang loaned to you. I can't remember who it was on here but someone was in the same position as you and they were looked after.

I personally would choose 2) if it was agreed you are given a mustang to drive around in while you wait. Centurion07 I think he has a right to be annoyed with the dealer because they should take care of his vehicle and have it parked in the compound away from public.

Probably the dude who's car set on fire. He was well looked after but that was a extreme case that led to a recall

Yeah that's the guy and yes although that was an extreme case, it proves that Ford can do the right thing i.e. loan a mustang and order a very quick replacement car.

I suppose you have to give the dealer some credit for being up front with you about what happened.

True, but at the end of the day, as pissed off as I would be if it were mine, ultimately the dealer wasn't at fault.

Sat here now I would say personally I would wait for another one. Easy to say that from here though.

And the chap who's car fell in the ocean, both have been treated well with loaner Mustangs and priority builds for 'their' mustang.

@Centurion07 as much as his car may (or may not) be able to be shifted from the lot if he were to refuse it, I doubt the dealership want to waste time selling another car, rather than having the money there and then, what that's worth to them, only OP will know!

I'd personally rather stick my dick in food shredder than wait months for another car - If they were to provide me with a 'Loaner Mustang' whilst I waited, I'd be fine with it, but to not have the stang, nope - Repairs, High demands and much ass kissing (off the dealer) later I'd be driving away in my 'Stang that had Minor damages repaired.

I'd deffo want to see the damages myself, Maybe get someone more 'mechanically minded' if you're not, to look at the car structurally, we don't know the extent of the damage so can only guess that it's a blonker reversing into the car, and the damage being minor, however worst case is during the PDI drive the dealer got clonked in the front end, and that's more than just surface damage usually (Cracked frames/Broken frames etc). Best to look, see, seek independent advise, understand what the situation was, and go from there :)!

I would be gutted, its a tough one
the Dealer really owns you bigtime, that car was in his care, should have had it parked out the way somewhere

It was hardly " in their care" , they own it and now they have damaged goods for sale, a whole different ball game. If I was still interested in buying it which I wouldn't be under any circumstances then it should be at a knock down price, simples.

There's absolutely zero chance I would buy a "new" wrecked car.

Aftermarket paint repair always looks like paint repair. And even if you're one of those people who are half blind and can barely tell the repair is there now... in two years you'll be mad at yourself for accepting the repair once the repaired area starts to fade or peel.
