Hey yall after searching and finding a couple threads I still have questions. Where does the cp-e downpipe fall within the range of other downpipes. Is it making any more power than say the map pipe? I really not interested in actual dyno numbers but rather real world et/mph numbers. I mean that's really where it matters. But for its and giggles what are the actual dyno results for one of these. I haven't been able to find that yet.

most 3" downpipes are going to be almost the same amount of power and you need a tune to utilize it for best gains.

There's no way you could compare two downpipes based on track times. Everyone is running different bolt-on combinations, different aftermarket tunes and different fuels. I wouldn't imagine there being much of a power difference between the 3inch off-road DPs , I would go off quality and the CP-e one does look like a nice build

I have the cp-e catless downpipe and I love it. You won't see much of a difference in power between different brands. There's only so much you can do with a 3" downpipe. That said the finish is beautiful and I love that it comes with a stock and 3" exhaust adapter.

Sure you can. How do you think they do dyno numbers for products? Back to back testing

Ok well assuming you're saying the actual maker and not the customers who are running different parts, it'd be one thing for them to back to back test stock vs aftermarket but even then they would have to tune it to show gains with the DP. But back to back testing two different 3" dps probably wouldn't tell you anything

I've had the CP-e downpipe for a good while. A 3" pipe is a 3" pipe and they'll mostly all be the same in regards to performance and numbers. However, I look at parts like this like cell phones. You can get a standard flip phone which makes calls just like an iPhone, but where the iPhone shines is in the extra details and value added by it's features. It's the same thing with car parts. CP-e has a great finish (mentioned above), extra O2 bung, stock and 3" adapters, etc. They've added value in places that other manufacturers haven't. So, if you have downpipes of comparable construction quality, but one has additional features that are actually beneficial, then I think that one is a better value for the money.

There's too many variables associated with track testing parts for numbers comparison. A dyno would be different.
I disagree and just leave it at that.

Ok here's a shot in the dark, has anyone put one of these on a flow bench and compared it to the others?

can you record driving or idling/revving? What kind of sound difference is it?
I have a homebrew cat-back now, so mine is gonna be a bit louder than stock. However, while I had the stock cat-back, the turbo whistle was louder through the tailpipes and the volume of the exhaust was just slightly increased, but if a person didn't know that it had been modified, you'd be hard pressed to tell.
