I got a base GT with black accent, black roof, 3.55 ratio and recaros, to my surprise, it actually came with the cowl or K-brace installed from factory!

Is this normal? I though it only came with PP or 20" wheels...I've read a few threads of people having to buy them for their non PP GT.

Is it like the PP toe links, that GT's already come with them?

I think that is normal, but it doesn't get the Strut Tower brace.

I have a 16 Gt Premium (non PP) with blackout package and it did not have the cowl brace. There was a faux plastic brace that got replaced with the real one when I installed the strut / cowl braces.

^^^^This.
Are you sure it's not plastic? My non PP GT had the plastic one.

Nope, not standard on the GT. I have a base GT and I had to add the cowl brace myself.

This. If you can't see the driver's side of the brace, it's the plastic one which does basically nothing. You shouldn't have the metal one based on the spec of your car.

Thanks to y'all...I have to go check if I got the plastic one installed, makes a ton of sense, didn't know that there was a plastic version!

I just got my Ford Racing cowl brace and strut brace...need to confirm that before installing it.

Confirmed...I got the plastic one. It would be nice if there was a PSA when buying the strut & cowl brace!

Reviving this thread with a question for those guys who added the cowl brace (K-brace) and strut tower bar to their non Performance Pack GT.

I picked up a Ford Racing cowl brace to add to a OEM strut tower bar I already installed. In the attached photo, I don't have a bolt in my firewall that would go in the hole in the brace that's marked by the red arrow.

Anyone know why there's a hole there? Maybe used for the Ecoboost? ... as this part is advertised to be used on the GT and Ecoboost.

What's strange is the service manual shows there being 5 bolts on the firewall that hold down the cowl brace ... but my GT only has 4 bolts. You guys with non PP GTs ... did you find the same situation?

I just checked my non PP (I do have 20" though) '15 GT k-brace. It has a bolt in the location you are questioning. Bean counters must have been walking the production floor when your car was assembled.

I've checked mine many times ... to clarify, it's not "missing" a bolt, but instead there is no place for a bolt to screw in to my firewall in that location.

How are you checking for the bolts in that location, as they are hidden underneath the plastic cowl cover?

Yes, I just popped the clips from the cowl off and took a peek.
