So the convertible has more linear lines and has less hips/haunches than the coupe basically. I didn't notice how big of a difference until I compared these, wow. The vert is still sexy as hell tho!

I think thats what makes the new 'vert look a lot more like the current Mustang than the coupe version. At least from the side view.

Altho the S550 still has more hips.

This is the first time I ever remember seeing a clay model of a Convertible and Fastback together on one model. You can really see the difference in the Rear Ends. Look how much taller and flatter the Trunk is on the Vert and how far back the Fastback goes on the Coupe, and how it Dips so Low before Sweeping back up to the Built In Duck Tail Spoiler, which is still lower than the trailing edge of the Verts Trunk. Quite a change from recent practice where Coupes and Verts had to use the same Decklid to reduce Tooling and Manufacturing Costs. Ford Really Went All Out this time. Esentially, except for the Tail Lights and Bumper the Convertible is Completely Different from the Doors Back. Different shaped Quarter Panels and Decklid.

I think the difference in the rear deck that you mentioned can all be attributed to the more fastback roof. If it had not pushed so far back we would probably be seeing the same deck. Im glad the fastback was that important to them they would essentially make two pretty different styles.

Only just had a chance to watch this. What a terrific video, thanks for posting, Sean :)

Some of that footage was the best yet for getting a real feel for how this car flows. The rear 3/4 "overhead" shot of the red model was superb.

Know what I wanted to do with that model? Wash it.........soak it in soapy suds, rinse off and the caress it dry. Yeah, I have a problem :headbonk:

THAT's what the difference is. I couldn't put my finger on it but something about the vert and coupe looked very different. The hips. Those glorious hips on the fastback, how can you give that up?? :amen:

Strange they keep showing the Magnetic vert only. Can this be the only convertible they've built so far....

The Top Stack looks Much Taller on this car than the other Convertibles we've seen previously. It's also got different head restraints and Head Light/Side Markers too.
