Coolant Tank cover. Which one????

you can always plasti-dip it at first and after a while then go ahead and spend the extra $ on a cover if you want. i plasti-dipped mine and for how often i actually have to look at it the money isn't worth spending on a cover. mind you, on my s197 i probably spent close to $1000 on covers and such and getting everything painted/powdercoated to match my car so i've gone both routes.

So for those who painted or plastidip'd, did you do it in place or remove it?
If removed, how much coolant was lost during the process and why?

Just wait for a used mishimoto to pop up the forums. I think I paid about $100 for mine shipped which is about the same price as all the covers.

I lost a ton of coolant in the process. Mostly because I did it by myself and dropped the main line trying to get the clip off. Made a mess in the driveway. No big deal though just go to autozone and get some more. Cost $6 for a gallon.

CJ had a 15% off sale last week so I ordered a CPC coolant cover. I ordered a Master cylinder cover at the same time. Both had the discount. I am sure I still overpaid, but there is no screwing around with removing stuff and painting. Just a 2 minute job and all done.

Well yeah, it's not factory if that's what you mean. I'm trying to create an album with pix, but what I'm using matches RR pretty good. Heck RR has so many tones depending on the light...check out my new album.

No - I meant that the type of paint that you'd use on your brakes would not be suitable for something made of plastic. (So your "still have the materials left over" wouldn't help you - you need a different paint compound) I believe.

Nope...works for both. I'll add a pic to my album shortly.
I would use spray cleanser and then alcohol instead of brake cleaner on plastic.

I taped mine off and covered the surrounding area for overspray. But that was platidip so if some did get on other areas it'd peel off. If painting I'd remove to be on the safe side.

I enjoy going to car shows and hate seeing all that white plastic so covers were a must for me. In this photo the JLT and MMD covers don't mix well I'll have to trim the strut cover for a better fit. windshield tank is next
