Considering move.

My wife and I are seriously considering a move from San Diego, CA to Portland, OR area or Boise, ID. Being as these areas are not CA, I'm wondering what types of emissions these cities and surrounding counties have. Do you guys have to deal with CARB EO #'s and is there any issues with passing smog checks or inspections with a non-50 state street legal power adder/mods? Some mods I'm considering doing to the stang are questionable in CA. :headbonk:

As for OR, if you live in the Portland Tri-County area (Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties), you have to pass the DEQ test once every two years when you renew your car's registration. If they don't see it smoking or doing anything obviously wrong when you pull it in, they just plug the computer into it and verify that there's no active codes in memory. Jackson County, OR is the same way (home to Medford...).

You might be required to have the car do a roller test (i.e. car on the rollers, sniffer in the tailpipe) when you move in from out of state. I had to when I moved here in 2000... (from Texas).

There are emissions test in the Boise area. Its just a sniff and plug plug test every 2 years for older cars. I think its for cars and trucks (Diesel included). Just to tell you how strict they are (or aren't), my 99 F350 Diesel has a CAI and no cat. passed with flying colors. Its allowed to have 20ppm and mine tested at 2ppm. Never popped the hood and never looked under the truck. and it was $12 for the test and certificate.
