Hi guys,

I am looking at getting a cold air intake for my GT.
The ones from the US market, would that be compatible with the AU model?

I am looking at:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/kn-series-69-typhoon-cai-1516gt.html

or

http://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-chrome-cai-1516gt.html
would they fit? and how many HP and torque would i get out of it without a tune.

And I noticed the tuning versions are not shipping to AU. Any ideas? Maybe because they wont work in AU models?
You will most likely encounter some issues from these. Look at a local company called Blue Power Racing they have a great cold air intake

These will require a tune. I'd recommend looking into the pmas system, or the Airaid closed box system. Alternatively blue power are Australian and have developed their own system that also doesn't require a tune. Im a fan of the closed box types though as it keeps the IATs down, especially when heat tape wrapped.

Those CAI are both terrible and perform worse than stock, DO NOT DO IT!

Best CAI for the GT is the PMAS "no tune"

If your happy to also tune the car PMAS is still one of the best and proven CAI on the market. :)

Otherwise just put a panel filter in the stock air box and be done with it.

Tune was optional for these CAI. Are you saying without tune they are basically useless?

Oh really... let me wait for more opinions. So no tune is worse in general??
The Dyno runs from the manufacturer says otherwise? Fake?

By changing from a panel filter to the blue power cai I picked up nearly 10kw. This was not my best run, blue power don't focus on the best they focus on the lower more consistent numbers.

Gibbo205 I started with the AFe pro dry and have moved up from there, there are definitely some cold air intakes that do nothing but the results speak for themselves

I'm running the Air raid box. I don't think it really makes any more power i just got it coz it was cheap and looked good and I had the mod bug. Look up pro speed racing on facebook for it

So far everyone I met is telling me US CAI are no good and is recommending blue power...

But I guess I am a ricer guy :) need the right look. The ones I see here locally are down right ugly.
