It has to be a coincidence. So much stuff goes into aerodynamics and crash safety there is no way it was intentional.

Let's not pretend that Form only follows Function here. Within the realm of meeting those drag coefficient goals there is room for artistic license. Crash safety mostly takes place behind the front fascia so the design merely needs to cover the important bits. If you ever spend anytime in an automotive design studio you'll see walls of photos for inspiration and they absolutely incorporate some of those cues into their designs.

Intentional that they formed the final Cobra design after the car not the car after the Cobra? This is highly likely. Designing the car after the Cobra, way less likely.
