I really like the Cobb AP with all its features but I know Livernois doesn't use it is the Cobb AP worth it or the SCT?

This has been brought up multiple times. Do a search please. It always ends in an argument and hurt feelings.

Long story short - It's your money, buy what you like and what the tuner you like best uses.

Pick a tuner, not a platform. MAP uses Cobb and Torrie from Unleashed uses SCT, and both are plenty capable of e tuning any future big mods. If you go Livernois, then you better cross your fingers they can e tune for you and will support big turbos fmics etc in the future. I went with MAP because I will be purchasing their big turbo kit. Both MAP and Unleashed has outstanding service and a huge presence in our community, as well as great numbers on the dyno.

LMS is developing their own turbo/intercooler upgrades which I'm sure will be nice. I just hope they are reasonably priced

Depends on what your needs are. Both are excellent platforms with a variety of features. From my point of view you can get away with the SCT Tuner for less features or pay more for the Cobb AP (right now its a $100 difference). Whether or not you need those extra features (instant map switching, 6 guages, etc.) it's up to you.

Also see what your local tuner supports if you're going to go custom tunes.

At the end of the day both are great, look into what features you need and what your end goals are. No can make those decisions but you.

I was in the same position you were as I have been a SCT user for the past 19 years; after research and discussion I went with Cobb as they seem to have more data available for th tuners to adjust and they are proven in the turbo 4cyl world; if this was for the GT SCT all day long but for the EBM which is a completely different animal to tune I recommend Cobb.

Livernois has been in the Ecoboost business since the motor came out. Didn't jump on it since it was installing in the mustang.

No need to cross your fingers with Livernois.

Unleashed have a bottom end for the 2.3? 3.5? Does Cobb? Does map?

^^ pretty much. the LMS tuner itself leaves much to be desired as well.

Cobb has been in the performance market for some time and the results are plentiful. Nissan, Porsche, subbie etc etc and their tuner is a great piece to have in the car for data logging and monitoring.

The difference is... People who buy from MAP or Unleashed can call or email Torrie or Adam and get immediate answers. The customer service and communication from both are amazing. Before I bought a single thing from Adam, he still proved helpful and honest, without trying to make an easy buck. That, combined with the incredible numbers and openly available information on their tunes, is why I went with Cobb. I've seen the exact same from Torrie, and hate I had to pick between the two because they're both running great businesses. Neither try to sell their products with race gas glory runs, but instead with dyno sheets, afr logs, boost logs, etc. I'm not saying LMS is junk... But if it's not, they should reach out to the community and provide the information about what our car will do with their tune, not YouTube 1/4 mile videos.

I was also a die hard SCT guy, had several, but I went with the people that have been tuning this type of engine the longest, Cobb. before you guys jump me, let me explain, the Mazda speed 3 came out in 2006, and it is the early version of the new 2.3 Ecoboost. Cobb has been tuning from early on. Plus on the fly tune changes, Launch control, Burnout control, The down side is not as many tuners working with Cobb as SCT

Livernois has been in the game a long time also. They make great power and should be considered. Down side no buddy else, but them can tune there controller

SCT has the biggest market support, so many tuners to choices, E-Tunes can be had very easy.

The jabs at LMS still seem a bit ridiculous. They have posted dyno sheets as well as video of them running their available tunes at the track. They also have customers getting similar results at the track. They have stated that their tune doesn't deviate more that 2% from stock boost levels. It seems like some here won't be happy until they just give up their whole tuning formula

Still seems to me like cobb just has a pretty device and minimal power increases until you get a protune. Not sure if I missed it but I'm pretty sure they haven't even posted any track times as they said they would months ago

SCT is an overpriced POS. The software makes the purchase stupid and most people using it that are supplying parts and tunes for the EBM are poorly made. When companies like Cobb, MAPerformance, and ATP are using the AP and developing HQ parts to go along with it the AP is your only choice. Not to mention the amazing customer support not only from Adam @ MAPerformance but also the great customer support from the fun guys at Cobb. Call Cobb and SCT you will see real quick who is more pleasant to deal with.
