clutch horrid

hi the clutch on mine is awful, feels terrible, and really hard to transition off in first and second without bouncing down the road, I can see in the history it had a Steeda clutch spring back in 2019 but this is supposedly better than stock god knows how awful it is without.

ive taken a pic does this look right?

could it be clutch glazing, the cars only been doing about 800 miles a year for the last 5 years in between oil services so it might just need to bed in again or something

The clutch spring really only helps with initial bite feel when you are getting going, it has less pressure so you can feel the grab point easier. That's the only benefit to it that I know of.

If you are having issues shifting from 1st to 2nd and experiencing weirdness there I would think you have something real going on.

Your photo doesn't show anything unusual that I can see.

its not slipping at all it pulls like a train its just very sensitive and hops about like ive never driven a manual before in first and second unless I really concentrate on feathering it. once going its fine tight and holds the power no problem

I think It has to be something to do with the fact its barely been driven over the last 5 years only to the garage for an annual service as far as I can see, the shifts are ok its as I come off the clutch pedal it starts to bounce about in first mainly once going gear changes and pulling is all totally normal its that initial getaway that's just very awkward for whatever reason

its so hard to describe but if I pull way in first foot off the clutch and give it power it pulls away then if you take your foot off the gas and don't put the clutch back in again it starts to bounce along

BRAIN WAVE! it seems to happen mainly on incline, I wonder if its the hill start brake fighting the clutch, im going to turn it off and go for a test spin now

Good old AI that was it. bloody hill hold was obviously fighting the clutch problem solved. I wonder how many people that catches out, I know I live in very bumpy and hilly Devon in south UK but I would have thought loads of people would have complained about this, but then again maybe most people don't live in hilly areas, but the bite point and everything like a new car now, HSA is god dam awful imo glad I found that setting and turned it off before I took it to the mechanic lol
