So, I have this annoying clunk coming from somewhere under my car. It's mostly noticeable around 20-40mph on roads that have bumps and potholes. If theres a dip in the road I usually dont hear it. I first thought it was some exhaust piece. Heat shields are on tight. Everything is lined up. So, I eliminated that. Next, I went to new mag ride shocks since the guy at Ford said my rears were out of fluid. That didn't help. So, I went with all new front and rear sway bar end links and bushings. Didn't help. The car does have aftermarket project 6gr 10 spoke wheels. I can't imagine that's and issue but I can't rule it out. Only other thing I can think of is the front strut tower. I have had 4 different garages check for anything loose under the car and no one can find anything. Anyone got any suggestions as to what it could be?

Is it lowered? And if so did you trim down the Bump stops?

Some things to check. Sorry for the long list but it could be a bunch of things.
  • Remove rear wheels and mark axle nuts with witness marks (white paint) to ensure they aren't coming loose.
  • check the differential bushings aren't cracked or failing
  • if there was any suspension work, clock the suspension on the ground
  • check axle cv joints aren't leaking grease, which will coat the inside of the wheel with grease
  • end links will clunk if not properly torqued
  • a loose sway bar nut will also cause a clunk
I don't think your rims would cause any issues unless you see actual signs of contact on the brake calipers

Others might be able to help you better if you figure out if it is front or rear.

Thanks for the info but unfortunately the car's got to go away for the winter in about a week but I'm going to have to go through it with a fine tooth comb once spring comes around. And I told the people that did my end links to talk them to spec and I gave them the foot pounds but who knows if they actually did it.

Sounds stupid, but ensure all lug nuts are torqued.
Maybe check the under tray being completely secured
