same thing I posted yesterday. You're not able to drive the first 15 years of your life, your abilities should be tested the last 15 years as well, imo.
Most accidents involve the younger set. Perhaps they increase the age until the brain is more developed.

Where are you getting these stats from? Also, 16 years old is fine to start driving however driver's education needs to improve. At 65+ years old, depending on the individual, one's reflexes and touch with reality deteriorate. A repeated driver's test every so often would help weed out those individuals.

I myself had a car accident involving and old person. I was 17 years old driving through a rural downtown area, while this old guy and his wife completely ran a stop sign, going the speed of a turtle, from a side street causing me to hit his front end. Dude never even looked.

Not to mention these are typically the same people that are seen going 50-55MPH in a 70MPH on the interstate which is incredibly dangerous.

which is due to inexperience, the geriatrics cannot use this excuse, now can they? :D

Some lane intrusions, no tail lights, passing on the right median, critters in the road...
Nice. I need to practice using the horn more. Most times I just try to avoid a situation by braking, etc. I swear, more than half of the times I've tried to tap my horn for someone waving or a stupid car, I didn't push it down all the way and just said f it. Need me a little button or something. [emoji14]

Trick is pushing on the left side. The right side doesn't seem to make a good connection and doesn't work about 90% of the time when I try to use it. I can literally punch the wheel and it wont do shit, but the left side I can push with my thumb

Very good to know. Thanks. Sometimes I'll see a friend in my apartment complex while leaving and I just want to do a quick "beep beep" and I can't ever do it. Usually end up just rolling down my window and waving or smashing the horn like an idiot.

But yeah lol, thanks :)

It's a pretty well known fact that younger drivers are involved in more accidents, choose your source. It's also a pretty well known fact that as we age we begin to deteriorate. I have nothing against a repeated driver's test. But not just for the retired set. I would advocate this for all drivers.

no, because you wont see a 40 year old going 25 in a 55mph zone

or going the wrong way down the street - list goes on and on.

And as I said, accidents with younger generations can be attributed to a few things : inexperience, distraction, etc. However, its not a deficiency/inability as it would be with older folk - as you say they're deteriorating, reaction time, arthritis, loss of vision, ability to interpret distance/speed, etc etc.

40 year olds don't have this issue normally. So I don't feel we should test the entire population for a few select cases. Geriatrics its not 'select cases', majority get arthritis, majority have slower reaction times, majority deteriorate, plain and simple.

True, inexperience plays a role. As does an underdeveloped brain. The older set has a similar thing happening with their brain, just in reverse. And their lack of experience is in dealing with all the technology.

Laws change/are added. It's good practice to keep yourself abreast of these and to make sure everyone is still practicing good habits. Many licenses have to be renewed, regardless of age, but for some reason not a driver's license.

Yes but I'm talking about a physical re-test. To test abilities/traits as I mentioned above. Some old geezer that cant write his name cuz he's shaking so bad shouldn't be behind the wheel of a 4000lb motor vehicle. ya know?

Sure, but between 16 and 70 a lot can happen to a person. We aren't immune to things happening to us until we reach a magic age.
