Saw an article on next year being last year for V-8 in both. Going electric. How long before the Mustang follows?

Assuming EVs progress forward with no hitches and the infrastructure can handle all of them, about 10 yrs.

If the above doesn't progress, longer.

FirstTexan may have it right.

IMO, lithium-ion EVs will go the way of the floppy disk. There are several major problems, cost, heat, and weight. Lithium has come down in price, but it still isn't cheap. Heat during charging is an issue--the charging could be faster, except for the extreme heat generated for a superfast charge. And weight is a major factor in improving the range of the vehicle.

Having said that, battery tech is changing. Aluminum-graphite might allow for fast charging without excessive heat and it is lightweight. But development is still in its infancy. Samsung, in conjunction with MIT, has projects underway for solid state batteries--longer lasting and safer than lithium-ion--no risk of fire.

If the auto industry sticks with lithium-ion, its going to be a fiasco at some point. But new battery tech, like solid state, could be a game-changer.

True - but everything eventually goes the way of the floppy disk and... they dominated the market for about 2 decades. I can't wait to see the new tech that comes out but - we could be looking at this for quite a bit. I mean electric vehicles have been around 100+ years and this is only as far as we've gotten.

EVs still are dirty - there will never be enough solar or wind energy to make them not dirty. Regular gas engines take less resources and energy to create, even with fuel it's still more environmentally friendly than an EV over the life of the car.

For better or worse the bulk of the industrial world and the majority of the automotive industry disagree with you. But not to worry it’s only a few hundred million people. :giggle: :like:

Probably haha - just ready to have 90% of the population on EV and they decide to shut them off :fingerscrossed:

Charger! Great name for an electric car! And they already own it. Think how bad marketing departments want that name.

Yes! Let's name a car after where it will spend 90% of its life.

So, when all these batteries start going bad and need replaced are we going to start burying them in the desert with the decommissioned windmills or dump them in the ocean?
