So I purchased the UPR plug n play catch can and prior to installing looked it over.

There is a threaded hole for what looks like a plug in the back. This has no plug on mine and causes the can to not be sealed from outside elements. Has anyone run into this or are they all like that? If they are I'm returning it because that is all kinds of wrong.

It might be there for an optional bracket....

Although, I do not have a UPR can.... However, the idea is the same. Here is my set up:

I was wondering the same thing because mine had the open hole in it too. I was kinda disappointed because the UPR video that lead me to buy it, was their new design that has 4 stages of filtration and billet aluminum connectors. The one I got was the old design, the design they say sucks in their new video. So why would they still sell it?
I went back and looked at their site and they have the new design one for $35 more. They also charge an extra $20 for the polished or black can. I had to pay myself to ship it back for $12 so I could get the new one.

Which one is the upgraded can? I noticed that as well and plan on returning it.

I got mine sent to in a Manila envelope with no instructions, not that it is hard to install or anything....but mine came with the right hand hoses without the chrome pieces that has the little arrow showing the air flow direction. The unit came with both left and right hand hoses attached so I just installed as it came. Turns out the hand hose that leads to the intakes was reversed so nothing was being filtered. Now it was probably my fault for not checking, but I drove with it for close to 1k miles before checking out what it was catching. So to my surprise the can was completely dry. Called UPR and they had me switch the hose around after telling me to look at the fitting to where the small arrow was pointing to which I told them mine doesn't have the chrome pieces :(...so I got and old model as well despite having only ordered a couple of months ago. At this point I was worried about my engine but they told me everything was fine....so I got all those hoses facing where they needed to be pointing and then went on a 600 mile round trip to MA. Upon returning to NJ I opened up my can to find nothing again. UPR then told me that I still have nothing to worry about and that it would eventually start separating and that mileage didn't matter when it came to catching oil. They said it would eventually start to flow....they told me my engine just seems to be running very clean and not to be worried....but guess what? I am......

Any opinions?

Sorry for the wall of text...

^^^eh sounds weird..I don't have a upr can, I do however have a jlt on passenger side...I installed with 7 miles on car and it started collecting immediately. I also have 3 other buddies with same set up and their cans also started collecting soon as they were installed. The your car is running so clean it hasn't collected sounds like a bullshit line to me...

Got a message claiming that this can can be upgraded to the remote mount, still doesn't answer the problem of the hole being open to air. When pressure is applied to one side while the opposite is plugged, air can escape or enter through this threaded hole whether it be pressure or vacuum. Terrible design, I'm pursuing a full refund as this catch can design is pure snake oil unlike their advertisement. It will capture outside moisture and make you think you're catching more than you actually are and it'll look like mud instead of oil. Stupid...

Rainier446, in the PM you sent me,you just mentioned a whole and did not provide any pictures so i was explaining about the top of the can mounting points. Now that I have seen this thread you posted, your talking about the side one.

But the base can which you got (5028-23) is our entry level without the difusser technology. The 5028-98-SC will come with the difusser and check valve.

This should have came with a 10/32 screw to cap off this as that is for a different mounting location. Once you call me I will get this out to you asap.

thanks

No sir. The SC cans will have the threaded spots on the top of the can that will work for the remote mount location.

The 5028-23 is our base system for $114.99. The video on the page is simply to show how to install it. If you go to the 5028-98-SC link, it will show the same video with the difusser and check valve.

Again, the 5028-23 catch can (base model system) should have 10/32 screw cap in the whole.

I want to make sure people know the difference between this one which cost $114.99 and the 5028-98-SC for $149.99 which comes with the difusser and check valve.

if anyone is missing this, please CALL ME and I will get it out today. 561-588-6630

I'm still confused the 5028-98-SC has the 4 chamber to it but does it have the threaded hole in it ? Do you have pictures ? I don't understand why his has an extra threaded hole
