Soo ill keep it simple....getting alot of carbon in my exhaust tips. I have a 16 EB PP with FPP tune with 9kmiles. Hoping its not too late for a JLT catch can. With that being said, whats your opinions on getting a catch can at this point for this engine with this many miles?

Im not racing I just care for the longevity and stable running of the car. I also prefer facts and experience, not just obviousness of "yes, get a catch can, it will catch the vapors..."

At 9,000 miles you are not past the point of no return. I think you will have carbon build up regardless.

A catch can isn't meant to protect your engine from carbon in the exhaust; that goes out the tailpipe. A catch can is supposed to separate the oil from the fumes in your crankcase that are recirculated back into the intake.

DI turbo engines are known for being a little on the sooty side...the brightwork on my exhaust outlets was shot a long time ago :cwl: When I wash the car, I have to be careful with my mitt, if it touches the exhaust tips, I practically have to pressure wash it to get all the soot out.

My original exhaust tips did get sooty but my Borla chrome tips stay shiny inbetween washes. Must have something to do with the 4” outlets and aerodynamics?
