USAA isn't very common in California, least not in my area. Have you or anyone you know been in any accidents while with them?

I've been in several accidents with them (some my fault some the other party) and I love this company, they have great rates ($102 a month) for the Mustang and I'm 39. If they raised my rate I would stay with them because of their customer service.

Geico was cheapest for me - YMMV. Just remember - no insurance company is truly "on your side" - check your policy extremely carefully and consider getting a dashcam if you live in an area where accidents are common.
You're one of the few people who actually understood my question!
I'm definitely getting a dash cam, but I still need to research a good one and how I'd install it in my 15 mustang when I get it.

What has been your experience accident wise?

Nope nobody that I know of. However I've always had great customer service from USAA.
I'll try checking into them a little more. But everyone has great service till its time for them to do something :paddle:

Maybe my question wasn't worded correctly for you to understand?

There are insurances out there that are difficult to deal with, don't want to take care of their members and just overall no better than politics. But the chances of finding out is hard. I've googled various insurance companies and they are filled with mixed reviews.

This is just one other place to use to see what other's experience is with.

So bottom line, I'm not asking for price. I'm asking for how they handled an accident.

Hopefully that makes it easier for you and anyone else who was confused.
My apologies I didn't read the entire thread to see what you were really asking. USAA has been great with all accidents, when an accident was my fault they took care of everything start to finish and never missed a beat. I've even had to take the car back for a few follow up repairs and there were no issue at all with getting them taken care of. If the accident was the other parties fault USAA would represent me and work with the other insurance company to get everything taken care of.

I could not have been happier with the service and the treatment I received from them. I understand they are always looking out for their best interests but they have NEVER (for lack of a better term) turned on me and tried to not perform repairs, drop me or kill me with ridiculous rate increases.

This is basically impossible to answer. It entirely depends on everything.

Cost is only one factor and even then, it depends on what type of agent you have (if any), what area you live in, whether the company will bend over to retain you (ie insuring house + multiple cars etc), etc.

I can say one of the hardest things I've found with comparing insurance is discrepancy in service AND pricing between areas of the country.

For my part- I used to have Amica. Excellent service, but they kept raising prices to incredible amounts . I now use Liberty Mutual. I will likely drop them, they have almost no market share out in AZ so their prices are inflated. The killer thing is now that I have two cars - they are basically charging me double liability for the same annual miles on two cars. I'm basically paying 1K liability on my 2002 SUV. I asked for separate quotes just to compare and they gave me basically $200 discount for the second car (I pay A LOT, given where I live/work, so it's almost nothing)... which is ridiculous. Can't drive both cars simultaneously.
I don't care much about price. It is more for how accidents were treated. Hopefully I'll never get into one, but if I am, I certainly want to have an insurance that won't jerk me around.

In california we have a similar thing. They charge for both cars even though you cannot drive them at the same time. I still cannot understand the reasoning behind that other than someone got greed and someone's pockets got fuller for making that a "law".

Have you or anyone you know been in an accident with any of those companies? I'm curious about what happened more than price (price shopping is easy. Finding if a company is "legit" or less crooked is harder).

What's to figure out? Either you are covered for an accident or not.. I mean you're out the deductible and the rest is handled. If it's totaled it's totaled. And you want gap insurance because theyll just pay off your car and you can go shopping for a new one. No hassle. Ive had multiple insurance companies and no huge difference about how they treat accidents. The only variables are do you get a rental car, and so add that on the policy if you want it, and choose a deductible you can afford.

Others I've spoken to have some insurance companies they advise to avoid like the plague since they give them the run around. So I wanted people's personal experience to help me see if I should shop around for a difference insurance than Geico. Money doesn't matter that much to me as price is impossible to lock down. But taking care of people is a little more easier to gauge.

It's fine, it seems most people were confused...

That's good to hear, were any of your accidents major or just small cosmetic?

Hopefully this is on the right form.
I'm looking at ordering my Mustang soon, this'll be my first car and I want to make sure I pick the right insurance (if there's a difference). I'm currently with Geico, I'm 24 (25 in september), with no accidents. My current car is a 77 Corvette as a daily driver.

Is Geico the best one to be with? What has been your experience?

Thanks!

Edit- There seems to be a confusion about what I'm asking. I am not asking about price.
I am asking about how you/your car were handled/treated when in an accident.
Long time member of USAA, no problem recommending them. Would also mention, only accidents in many years were Geico clients, their fault. Geico treated me superbly. Good luck.

Check into liberty. Recently switched from nationwide, saved me a boat load of cash. Of course I moved 3 cars and 2 houses then added my GT.

I don't understand how some people get under a hundred a month. I'm almost thirty, been driving since I was 16, I've had 3 speeding tickets in 12 years no accidents, and I'm $200 a month. I left Geico for Esurance back when I got my Veloster because Geico wanted over 300 a month for the Veloster. When I was getting my mustang I did a quote for esurance on it and it only went up $20 a month. Then I got my mustang, saw my actual charge for my insurance and it $375 a month! All same coverage, $500 deductable. I'm going to do some insurance shopping before my bill is due in a week.

i'm 29 and live in South Carolina with:

multiple cars, house, jewelry, no wrecks and tickets are off the record - $390 every 6 months for a GT(current car Veloster Turbo is $320 every 6 months) with state farm... my wife's 2015 Rogue is $365 every 6 months and her record is clean too.

$1k deductible as well...full coverage and all that. A lot of people run their deductible too low and pay more money on insurance....i don't believe in giving money away...if anything happens to our cars it's going to cost more than $1k anyways so why not run higher deductible. If some off chance it's less than 1k you won't have to use your insurance at all.

this is what I do. I have high deductible on my house as well because if it burns down it sure as hell is going to cost more $500 or $1000 to rebuild it....but just doesn't make sense to give money away on the premium for something I hope to never use.

As long as you always got your deductible money saved up, you can spend less money on insurance. People will probably contradict this though and that's fine....yall are more than welcome to spend more money! :D
