 This made me laugh!

Cars are brought for the driver, it's exactly how you want to drive it and if it is useful for you. End of the day it is your money and your choice, 4 doors would probably help your child situation.

As for the driving, many users have stated that winter tyres and being gentle on the throttle works for the GT (Otherwise get an EB ;)).

But as i'd said, your money, you need the car for your needs...

There's always the option of buying an 'R-Reg' Focus, then having the Mustang as your play toy ;)
I went down the route of buying a Mini and using the Shelby (when I had it) on special occasions, made me hate driving the mini as I always longed to drive the Shelby and the idea was soon binned hehe!

We had "just a focus diesel estate" last year and by god it was slow but it still handled well enough on my favourite back roads to embarrass more sporty cars ( much to their shock ) so can't and won't go back to that just to have a nice 2dr GT car that sits in the drive.

The only place where the Focus RS is gonna blend in is an RSOC meeting.

I don't understand people's problem with the focus especially coming out with comments like it's just a focus, would you say the same with say a Proper old school RS500 cause after all it's only a Sierra . To me this kind of comment means sweet fook all and amounts to nothing as all cars do have a base model they are built from.
It's your money buddy buy what you want that suits:thumbsup:

'all cars do have a base model'

To me this kind of comment amounts to something someone who has scant knowledge of cars says.

What's the Mustangs 'base' model? I'd love to know what my 370's base model is?!? Both have bespoke designs and chassis, and there isn't an estate/hatchback/tall bastardisation (think C Max) version, but the Focus does, but also happens to have a hot version.

Do you mean entry level model?

Good luck with the Focus

Yeah basically the entry level model , and ok cars like the 370 and the mustang are bespoke coupe designs but I still don't get what the big deal about it is ? , surely it's a positive as the manufacturer doesn't then need to spend a fortune tooling up for something unique and can pass the savings on to the motorist .

Where else can you get 345bhp 4wd for ÂŁ30k brand new on the road ? ,plus once the mountune guys work their magic it should be very entertaining

The Focus will be a great car, but this is a Mustang forum so you'll likely encounter bias ;)

I can say hand on heart that if I had ÂŁ100k to spend on a car right now I'd buy a Mustang.

Yeah I know it will be biased and I can honestly see a mustang GT appearing on the drive next year all going well ( assuming the arse doesn't completely fall out of the oil industry ) but I just can't for the life of me work out the hatred for the focus ? .

To clarify, if I had 100k I'd buy a Mustang over every other car sub-100, not just the Focus. Been waiting for it for more than half my life. Going for the GT because I'm at the age where I can without breaking too much sweat over the running costs. I can say with relative certainty that the 400+bhp will be completely wasted on me as I'll drive it like a ph:censored:ny.

I appreciate that for others the decision to buy has been more carefully considered; more sensibly you might say.

Additionally my dealer is one of the biggest Focus "enthusiasts" in Scotland it would appear...

I think the focus, in all guises, well except the hideous C max guise, are great looking cars, I'm not calling you out on it buddy (Jeez, I sound 'Merkin )

But it wouldn't be these two cars that I'd be pondering over, a Focus ST diesel would make a great car (like my Mrs's Leon FR, very practical)

Personally, I was torn between a nearly new GTR or this Mustang thing! I could keep my 370, but that'd be 4 cars on the drive (youngest daughter still lives at home and has a Mini Cooper Coupe, love that little go kart), so the FR is for practical things, the Mustang is my 'money pit'

I'd buy a Focus in a heartbeat, but as a second car

Who is doing your wrap?
Company local to me in Lichfield. If you still want their name PM me, i'm sure they'd appreciate some extra business as they're fairly 'small', they've done a few of the UK team lamborghini wraps which is why i've chosen them over a cheaper alternatives in Burton and Derby.

I'm not going for a wrap - but thanks for the offer.

Was just curious in case it was the likes of Yiannimize... would have been great to see a YouTube video about it (they film all of the cars they wrap).

Are you keeping your 370? I officially put my 350z up for sale last night and it broke my heart! Especially after seeing a video of it leaving a meet. Didn't realise how good it sounded!

Sorry but you chose a mustang over a GTR ? , I am a gtr man at heart and was always a skyline gtr man ( R32 gtr VSpec 2 ) but you simply can't compare the two cars and if it was me the gtr would be a no contest deal .

Can I ask what swung your choice from the amazing gtr to a new mustang ?

No need to apologise :D

You're right, two totally different cars, in every way. The GTR, is an awesome machine, one of the big 'buts' was i couldn't afford new and I would have struggled parting cash for a P3 service, not because I couldn't afford that, but the cost would rankle me. Another reason was the cost of replacement re gearbox and the fact that the warranty would revert to limited if launch control was ever used. It's also very, very clinical and not a V8, that was a huge attraction of the Mustang.

Also, and it's not that important, most of the owners I know are cocks! Can happen anywhere I suppose, but the 'I'm all conquering in my GTR' really put me off them. The cost of modding is very expensive for not a lot of gains, sure you can wrangle another 150 - 200 bhp out them but at massive cost.

If I was a lotto winner, I'd have one, but it would have to compete with a lot of cars first. The Mustang is very unique and a bit more mechanical and not a 'play station' vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I love what Nissan have done, but another 25-30k for a nearly new over a new V8.

I'm using the money, I've not spent on a GTR, to buy a VW camper (I know how embarrassing!), but that's two years down the line.

I also chose a Nissan over the new Cayman, had to quit when the options for what I wanted took the car north of ÂŁ65k, my second 370. They gave me my V6 fix, but now it's time for the V8 itch to be scratched, and what better car than one with as much heritage as a Mustang?

Car buying, for cars such as a GTR/Nismo/Cayman/Mustang is much more than how 'awesome' it is, there's no rational to dictate what you end up with, I'd regret buying a GTR 6 months if not sooner after getting it.
