Have you done a stress analysis on the rear end? What sorts of loads does the diff incur on a hard launch? Is half the weight of the car greater than the stresses that diff was designed for?The reason I wouldn't jack up any car on the differential is I know there is a bolted cover there with fluid sealed inside.
If the housing is aluminum, I would sort of be concerned that I don't warp the material or do something that could cause any kind of crack or crevice.
When you see people with leaky differentials, I am sure if you ask them "hey where do you normally jack up the car"...they likely will say "oh i just put the jack under the differential.
This is why I wouldn't jack up a car there. But as post # 27 stated, everyone has their own opinions about what they want to do so it's a driver's preference.
I do have a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering. But even if I didn't I still wouldn't put a jack there, but I do put jacks under lower control arms all the time, and I know the manual doesn't say to put jacks there, but I do it.![]()
