Hi all, i have a quick question. I did a pull in what I thought was 1st gear, and my stupid a$$ was on 3rd... i know, i can't stand myself right now.

Anyway, there was clutch burned smoke and smell, it went away eventually but now 1st has a little slip right before full clutch release, it was still hot, all other gears are fine, they go in same as well, just the little clutch weird feel right before full release. Did I messed something really bad?? Should I start shopping for a new clutch? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

No, your clutch is probably fine and the weird feeling will fade away after some miles, eventually.
Just don't repeat this. Never ever.

Thank you! I'll post an update tomorrow. I parked it to let it (and myself) cool down a bit...

You may have just glazed it and are OK. I just looked the clutch up. Clutch linings not covered. Considered a maintennance part.

Have you taken it for a drive since?
Held the bite for a bit too long on my own today and had similar effects, horrible clutch burning smell and slipping/shuddering a little in 1st. Every other gear is fine though.

Update...

After a few days the clutch seems fine, burned smell went away, still feeling it little weird on 1st, just about full release point, little wobbly (cant describe it better), so thinking it needs little more time to heal, but I guess I got a pass this time. Not sure if I want to take it to Ford, or let it settle a bit more.

Thanks all for your replies

I'd let it settle a bit more. You might have transferred a little clutch disk material onto the adjacent friction surfaces and it might take a couple hundred normal clutch engagements to wear away. I hope everything works out for you.
