2019 GT with no mods. After engine is warm, gets a bumping noise that can be heard and felt though the stick shift while sitting at idle. Very deep noise that does not sound like tick that everyone describes. Only 300 miles on it. Any ideas?

Take it in so it's at least documented, then keep driving it till something breaks and get it fixed with warranty. 2400 miles on mine and it makes several sounds I've never heard other cars make. I don't have any sounds like you describe though so maybe they'll find something wrong.

Definitely take it in so it can be documented. Is it a rhythmic bumping noise like its following the rotation of the crank?

The clunk into 1st is def an MT-82 thing. My old one did it and even the new one they replaced it with does. Although the BG fluid has quieted it down a a bit

It is a rhythmic bumping noise like Ghost50 described, but it does not stay consistent in rate or sound. There are only two other videos I could find out on the net that mimic the sound.

If you listen with the sound turned up you can hear the bumping or thud noise in the background a few seconds after the video starts.

I did bring it up when returning to the dealer to finalize paperwork, but it was dismissed as new car owner jitters.

I will make an actual service appointment to get it documented.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ignoring the DI noise, it sounds to me like you are hearing the engine/trans rocking a bit on the motor/trans mounts. Idle is the hardest time for engines to "stay put" and thats why she rocks a little bit left/right, even if it is difficult to see.

I bet that if you put a micrometer on the frame measuring the block, and then recorded it with a high speed camera (And analyzed the audio) the random clunk type sound would correspond to a larger engine movement.

If you raise the idle a little bit, say to 1000 RPM, can you still hear it? I bet it goes away not because the engine is louder, but because the engine is running smoother off idle.

If the clutch is engaged (to me, meaning foot off clutch pedal) and you are in neutral, you might also be amplifying the engine torque pulses with a tiny bit of gearlash sounds.

I don't have the new-and-improved MT82, but mine has the clunk, and had the 1>2 nibble (Until I put in the shifter bracket and changed trans fluid).

Mine does this too. I've never worried about it because it happened since day 1 and happens consistantly but does anyone know what the clunking noise is? I assumed it might be due to the 2 piece drive shaft but that's strictly a guess on my part.

Mine has the clunk as well. No big deal. Running 700ish at the wheels and no issues in close to 7k boosted miles.

There is still drag in neutral or with the clutch in, thats all the slack in the drivetrain being taken up. Pretty much any manual car I've ever driven did it to some degree.

Makes sense. This is my first rear wheel drive manual so it's new to me.

I'll also note mine was a lot more noticeable when I had the stock driveshaft, with the one-piece its a very small clunk. There is a lot of play in that thing.

When I first got mine, I was concerned about the clunk, so I spent a lot of time on here and read exactly what you've said. Most people seem to have better luck with the one piece driveshaft. I found a video on here where there was a fore/aft movement just grabbing the driveshaft under the car.

To me, it feels like there is too much thrust clearance in the trans itself, I've owned a lot of RWD transmissions, none of which did this. But, it seems like everybody has them and it isn't causing the transmissions to grenade.

I believe Ford went with a 2-piece for NVH, but to me it adds a lot of unwanted stuff. Added friction, weight, inertia, etc.

Yessir - I’m going to be going to the shaftmaster one piece soon.

My 2010 F150 FX4 is so clunky in the driveline sometimes it feels like someone reads ends me.
