That's was cool! I'm impressed!OK, curiosity got the best of me. No idea what 100-octane 'racing gas' consists of--but it smells a bit like toluene or xylene--but I got concerned about its ethanol content. So, I did what any anal-retentive gearhead would do and decided to find out. Got a new 1-gal gas can (plastic) from Walmart--another story--and bought a gallon of the racing gas. Since I had an old 100cc graduated cylinder laying around from my home chemist days, I put 30cc of distilled water in it, and mixed with 70cc of the racing fuel:
After the mixture settled, I had just under 100cc of fluid, of which 36cc was in the lower water layer, and around 63cc in the upper fuel layer. Hence, this fuel has about 8.5% ethanol--close to what a typical 'E10' would have--so, safe for my car.
