All right, let's run through this. Ford identified a weakness in a part that they previously thought would meet specifications. They need to check those parts to see if they suffice or whether or not they need to be replaced. The malfunction in the parts has been released by the media to be damage taken through shipping. However, not all parts were in that particular shipment of parts, so they only "recalled" cars that were given that part from that specific shipment. Our cars fall in that category, so they need to do the inspection. If your car was at the factory, then they just did the inspection at the factory. If your car is at a holding center, then the roving inspection team will do the inspection, and that's where the primary wait lies.

I wouldn't call BS on my dealer. I get the bad rap that they've gotten (and it's legitimate in some circumstances), but a negative attitude isn't going to help you arrive at the truth any faster.
But my car was released from Ford only to be brought back in to the plant. It was then re-released only to be held again at the rail yard. You'd think they'd have fixed it at the plant the second time.

Okay, you tell yourself that if it makes you feel better. It's a recall regardless of what semantics you choose. I'm not being negative but a realist and I'm also waiting on a vehicle. I would rather a recall be dealt with prior to my driving off in the car and then having to deal with it.

Well, there were multiple problems which were outlined in an earlier post that showed some problems besides the seatbelt. Perhaps yours was a double offender, and they weren't tracking both problems when the first one was addressed at the factory. However, it's not a recall in the sense that Ford has identified that a part that was perfectly manufactured is sub-par. If that were so, the vehicles would be truly recalled and fixed with a new part. They're doing inspections because a truck must have been in a collision or something and the shipment was compromised. Therefore, they are obligated to do the inspections before release, because it happened to be safety equipment. So, yeah, it is sort of semantics, but I think the major difference is that it doesn't include waiting for a new part unless the inspection team deems the part in your car is deficient. Otherwise, we only have to wait to pass the inspection, then we're good.

I sure hope my car isn't one that will need all of the seat belts and child restraints replaced. I'll have to carefully go over the interior before I take delivery to make sure they didn't damage anything in the repair process.

I swear.... WTF is the problem with Ford? I found another car out of state. I negotiated a good price on it. I asked the dealership to send me pics of the car so that I don't drive 300 miles to find out that it's got body panel issues.... well guess what.

The hood doesn't even look straight? How fucking hard is it for Ford to put together a car? I've never seen such crap in an auto manufacturer.

The dealer says that they are easily adjustable. I told them that if they can adjust them and send me the pics today, we have a deal. Let's see what happens.

Just got off the phone with my dealer and he confirmed the seatbelt issue. He spoke to a Ford rep who said my car (built 9/29) will not be released until "at least November 30."

Also checked the Ford recall site with my VIN and it does show up.

Yeah, mine shows up too, with a code 12 of no remedy. Don't understand how it will take until November 30th to have seatbelts replaced...

FORD - Failed / On Hold / Retail / Deliveries

Yes, I am just a little PO'd! How is this even possible that they couldn't ship to our delivering dealers to assess the condition of the seat belt components and repair as needed?

Mine showed up too. But I found one like mine that is due to arrive at a different dealership in mid-November and it is NOT a part of the recall. So if that one hits the lot when it's supposed to then I'll try to make a deal for that one instead.

So, is what's on the Ford site when you put your vin a recall or an inspection for a potential recall? Because it clearly says recall and code 12 no remedy...
