Has anyone broken a half shaft with an automatic yet? If so what mods/tires/HP/TQ
I have a Circle D converter on the way.
I am eventually going to buy some, but I was wondering how much time I have until I "need" them?

I spoke with Ford Racing at Sema. You will need the half Shafts on your 5th launch.

Due to early tuning limitations with the auto I don't think many have pushed them hard yet, manuals have been pushed from day one. Tuning is coming around so we should see some good results soon!

I guess I'll see how long they will last with a full weight vert, drag radials, and 3500rpm launches :)

Admittedly it is the one thing I wonder about. My first "mod" will be drag radials...car is otherwise stock. I know the stick guys are blowing their crap up, but with a lot more RPM. Kind of hoping the auto is more kind.

Don't really want to find out the hard way...

Drag radials are the hardest possible option on tire on half shafts.

Something has got to give. Usually it's either traction or, in the case of slicks or bias ply stickies, the sidewall. Drag radials are harder on half shafts than slicks. Go figure. There is no cushion on them. Anyway, the converter in the auto may save half shafts. Still too early to tell yet.

And auto tuning is ready. See you're choice between the big names here and they should be able to hook you up.

Nope. I have FRPP.

That said, I broke the aluminum differential housing over the weekend. I found a cast iron version and swapped to it at the track.

didn't you see American muscles black auto gt? they put slicks on it took it to track once and snapped a half shaft. If your pushing more power then stock which your sig says why risk it ? I wouldn't or just be ready to call a tow lol
