Check the pH of your wheel cleaner. Also I dont know which one your using but the CG citrus wheel cleaner is recommended to be diluted. Also its not Fords fault on that since Brembo provides the calipers. Also use it as an excuse to go to red caliper

Anyone else have this issue? I use a citrus wheel cleaner that works a little to well apparently. Never had this happen before. Pretty fed up with the quality of this car. This might be the last straw for me. Can't keep the damn wheels clean now this.

Just keep using that wheel cleaner, soon they will match your AG paint.

I know it's the cleaner, I dilute it 50/50 but I guess it's still too strong. It's the point of it that pisses me off. Now I have to tear apart the brakes to either paint them or buy a whole set of calipers.
How is this a Ford quality issue?

Have you tried black trim restorer to see if it cleans off the residue?

Mine look exactly the same and i havent used anything other than water to clean them. 12000 miles on mine.

Citrus degreasers/cleaners are usually not supposed to be used on painted surfaces. I don't understand how this is a quality issue.

Which cleaner do you use?

On my 14 I painted them with a clear High temp spray out of a rattle can and drove it between coats to heat up the brakes and cure the paint. It seems to have worked and preserved the calipers.

I'm not sure if the black calipers are actually painted, from the texture they might be anodized

Mine look the same too and I haven't used anything on them. The face is definitely brighter than the rest of the caliper, as seen in OP's pic. These need to be painted or powdercoated. I can't believe Ford did not put some color on these kick ass calipers to show them off a bit. I'm thinking orange on my DIB car. I'm a Florida Gator, so that works....haha.

Only used Simple Green on all my wheels, never an issue.
And only when very dirty, other than that old rag and car wash soap.

Your results may vary....

I use the Adam's products on my GT350 with great results. Here is their video of the Wheel Cleaning process
