Any fans of Russian watches here? This one is an Aviator Chronograph based on the Valjoux Chrono movement dating from the day when the Soviets bought the equipment from them in the 60s or 70s.

Very nice watch and different to boot. Although I’ve never owned one I have always liked Vostok watches. Especially their submarine models.

Yes, it is a good watch. It is also very expensive for what it is. There are other Vostok models that use this same movement that cost far less. Keep in mind that it is quartz and the Seiko name they are using is not the Seiko you know from watches sold here in the US.

But it is unique and a limited edition. It is made out if titanium and has tritium tubes for illumination. If these things float your boat have at it.

If you’re going top tier, buy once cry one. Automatic or just end up in a lower tier with a quartz that fits your style. You get around true watch aficionados and silent judgment occurs on the type movements.

At the end of the day I would go Steinhart. Best for the dollar hands down. Swiss quality, ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic movements, etc. etc. Ticks off all the boxes. Just pick your style.

EDIT: Not all watches shown have the 7750 movement.
