brakes jammed on

Just wanted to ask if anybody has had a problem with their brakes locking on after car has been sitting for a while. I have been away for a fortnight, went to move car from garage today and car would not move when clutch was released. Had to rock car backwards and forwards and brakes finally released with a loud clunk. Does anybody have any idea on what may have caused the brakes to lock on like that. I will add that the car was in the garage with handbrake off.

Thanks for the reply had to think about that for a while, yes it was washed then stored. Do you think pads were rusted to discs.:doh:

Could be the reason, my Fg GT-p was washed then put it away for a week and after a bang to get out of the garage thought not doing that again. Now I wash and drive around block before I store my cars.

Thanks for getting back to me. Usually I do drive around the block to get all of the water out of mirrors and other hiding places, this time was in rush to go away. Wont do that again.

You could always look at buying a metro vac sidekick. The amount of air they push out is amazing for their size and it will completely dry your wheels and rotors off in no time, not to mention great for drying the water behind the mirrors and all the other hiding places

Also don't use the e-brake when parking, particularly if the brakes are hot or wet. Just leave it in 1st gear.

Those are well worth the money and do a fantastic job at getting into all of the crevasses that you otherwise can't..

For a lower cost alternative you could also look at a short snout electric garden blower.

Definitely is if you do not take the car for a drive around the block after you give it wash.
