Brake pedal still soft after bleeding (but only sometimes)

I recently had to pull and reweld my clutch pedal, and after doing that I rebled my brakes since I just opened up the system (and my fluid was very cloudy and gross) and after bleeding the brakes (also within proper procedure, RP, RD, FP, FD) I would have a very soft pedal as if there was still air in the system, so I fully flushed all the old fluid with new fluid (dot 4) and i confirmed there was no air in any calipers, and it made the brakes significantly better, but I’m now noticing sometimes when I hit the brakes the grab up high like before, and sometimes they grab at the middle of the pedal travel, but they never go straight to the floor. I’ve rebled the brakes with the 2 person method 3 times now, and Ive seen improvement but it has not been fully fixed to where it was before I pulled the pedals. I also did rebleed the clutch with the self bleeding procedure, so I’m kinda confused what else it could be.

It's possible that there is some air trapped in the ABS module, you may need to perform the ABS bleed, which will require a scan tool.

Is that something that happens commonly? And also is that something I could realistically do myself without an air compressor or so I need an extensive amount of tools?

As the rod said could need to cycle the abs modules with a scan tool that was the first thing that came to my mind as well it does happen when u bleed the full system. Wish I had better news but best of luck

So I just had realized I didn’t bleed both sides of the front calipers since I have a performance pack and the 6 pistons have 2 bleeders per caliper. So I just rebled the system correctly and there was no air bubbles in the calipers still. I’m gonna have my friend who’s got a shop nearby and a scan tool go ahead and get the abs bled cause it’s too cold out here to do it for a 5th time outside lol

Yup. I agree with the other comments. There is probably air in the abs module. I had this happen with my Toyota Tundra. Once I cycled the abs module and rebled the brakes, the problem was solved
