Hello, all. Can anyone point me toward a how-to for brake pad change f&r for an Ecoboost w/PP. I've never had calipers like these before and don't want to just rip into them and screw something up.

Unless they have the screw type calipers like Honda should be the same as any other car I'd imagine.

The EB PP has fixed calipers compared to the floating calipers on the EB non/PP, V6, and most other cars. Typically these are even easier to replace pads than the floating kind as you don't usually have to remove any bolts, only remove the pins that hold the pads in. The one special tool to make things easier is a caliper spreader like this one otherwise if you push in the pistons from one side the pistons on the opposing side can push out.

Very simple

Remove wheel
Pull out spring clip on the back of the caliper, almost looks like a wire
Next use a small punch and push one of the pins towards you. You may need a small hammer
Once one pin is out the other should come out by hand

As far as pulling the pads you can use a set of pliers to pull on them or a screwdriver to get some leverage and push them out.

A trick to reset the Pistons is to put the pads in perpendicularly and push outwards this will push the Pistons back into the caliper.

I wish I had pictures, I know typed instructions are not easy to follow in some cases.

No, that's all clear. I've been studying them for the last hour or so as I was taping them up for applying some G2 caliper paint. The deeper I get into this, the closer I get to having two G2 caliper paint kits for sale.

Tomorrow I will call on pricing for rebuild kits, or at least bleeder nipples and the bolts that hold the two halves together, but this is starting to look like an enormous waste of time.

Coming from someone who has rebuilt a bunch of calipers, I would not split them.

If you are just painting them with spray paint simply tape off the piston area, remove the bleeder screws or leave them in as you say you will be replacing them and call it a day.

If you were getting them powder coated leave the bleeder nipples in and add compressed air in the brake line hole SLOWLY. I'd put a block of wood in between the Pistons because the should slowly come out. You have to pressurize the caliper to a point to where all 4 Pistons are about the pop out on their own at the same time.

Remove the oil rings, and bleeder screws and degrease them. Then they should be ready for powder coat. Good shops have plugs that will seal the piston holes and what not.

I wasn't planning to split the calipers because I imagine there must be a fluid channel somewhere in there, and I bet it's no fun to reseal it. What I was thinking was to paint over the visible bolt ends, and then replace each bolt, one at a time, because this has got to be easier than trying to tape them off.

You wouldn't happen to know the diameter of the brake line banjo bolt, would you?

Yes typically there is an o ring in between the two pieces.

I would personally paint over the bolts, trust me it will look much better.

8.35mm is the hole size I just measured it

Looks like I won't have a choice - Ford doesn't sell the bolts. The bleeders are $19 a friggin piece, so I'm looking for regular bolts instead. Apparently nobody carries those little red hole plugs.

In case anyone was wondering, the brake line bolt is a standard pitch M10, and the bleeders are M8 X 1.0 (fine).

Yeah, same goes for Brembo. Found this out the hard way.

No they do not want you to split them as its a safety concern.

I def understand that for sure. You figure they would release specs and bolts and the gasket so people could do the job properly.
