I must be getting old. But when did it become okay to just screw on over sized plastic with screws showing and call it a wide body kit? Im a young almost 50YO. I thought wide body was alot of cutting and bodywork or quarter/fender replacement.

What the hell??

If you search Camaro and Mustang wide body on Google, you will see 99% Camaro with complete body kits, but much more Mustangs have screwed on plastic.

Way better...

Agreed.

I'm pushing that aging milestone myself, and years ago you needed to be a master metalworker and body man to pull off a widebody.

Underneath of that bolt on plastic is some heavily cut-up fenders. Otherwise the factory fender will be sitting right in the middle of those wide wheels.

I wasn't a big fan of it when I first saw it on the Porsche club racers but I like it even less on the S550. But on dedicated track cars it doesn't bother me.

If you think that's bad, google "Rocket Bunny". They started off with ricers, now they're making kits for Ferrari's and Lamborghini's.

When society decided that mediocrity was just as good as perfection and participation equaled success.

I will never own a wide-body unless it's molded into the fenders cleanly. My mind just doesn't allow/accept it. Way too much distraction when I see rivets/bolts. And I'm not into cutting up my car for something I'd probably end up wanting to revert later.

Whereabouts? I'm in the area and haven't seen it on the roads.
I spotted the offending car (white color) at the Chipotle in the Scottsdale Pavillions few months back. I think I also saw him at my S/C installers parking lot in Glendale when my car was having its install. God awful. Almost as bad as those truck fender flares that get bolted on. All that stuff is "ghetto-redneck". I just coined a new phrase I think:cool:
