I have a 2015 GT Premium with the Performance Pack which suppossedly has different suspension tuning than a regular GT.

With the stock Pirelli's the best skidpad I've been able to pull is 0.92g. Since I recently ran over staples and flattened two of the Pirellis, I replaced all four with Michelin Pilot SS.

I was hoping for some improvement just from the tires. They do seem to stick a lot better, but are a bit more squirmy. Not sure I like that and may end up selling them before I get more than a few hundred miles on them. If anyone is interested PM me.

In any case, I'd like to get some measurable benefit in skid pad.

Since they are so many choices as far as suspension mods, I'm wondering what is the magic bullet if I were to do one thing? F/R swaybars? Shocks? Bushings? I don't want to do anything that will substantially change NVH.

Maybe BMR can chime in here. (as an aside I was one of BMR's first customers 20 years ago for suspension parts for my old Z28)

Wait until the gunk is off the new tires. MPSS > stock tires any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

In no particular order, I think big bang for the buck is springs and rear sway bar. IMO, if you can, coilovers.

What setting are you putting sway bar on and what brand are you using?

Thanks!

This link SHOULD work: http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/dto_garage.php?do=viewvehicle&vehicle_id=1017

Steeda front and rear sway bars with billet mounts for me.

IMO, settings are very dependent on your overall mods and tire sizing as well as what exactly you are looking for. I think starting off in the middle of stiffest on the rear would be nice for a stock car, but if you can just play with it.

It depends on what you mean by 'bang for the buck.' Coilovers or properly paired springs/shocks/struts will completely change the feel of the car, but tend to get pretty pricey.

So if by 'bang for the buck,' you mean easily affordable/cheap, then I'd recommend something to tie down the rear subframe. The BMR cradle bushing lockout kit and the Steeda subframe bushing supports and subframe braces are both great options.

They both do the essentially the same thing, but in slightly different ways and are both relatively affordable options. IMO, both companies make great products and offer great forum support and you can't go wrong with either.

There are a lot of threads/reviews on the above mentioned parts to help make a decision for yourself if you just search for them.

EDIT: It seems a lot of people hopped on here at the same time to recommend the same thing, so apologies for the repetitive info.

John, that is AWESOME that you used us almost 20 years ago for your Z28! We are still kicking strong, stronger than ever actually! Our entire process/operation has evolved so much in 20 years, it is mind boggling. Not only does time fly, but so does technology.

As for your post/question. To clarify, are you saying asking what single modification will net you the best improvement on the skid pad at the best price point?

Exactly!

I remember Brett and speaking to him about new products for my Z28: panhard bar, subframe connectors, torque arm, etc.

As much as I would LOVE to tell you our CB005 would be the ticket...and as much as I think you would absolutely love it as hundreds of people do thus far, I cannot.

Based on what you are looking for, I think a set of Koni Adjustable shocks and struts would be the single best first modification to your PP equipped S550.

In a perfect world, I would like to see you do Konis and BMR Linear springs (or a coil-over kit from a quality company) - BMR Sway Bars and our CB005.

Feel free to call me if you want to get deep into it.

Happy Modding John!

PS: That is incredible that you remember Brett. FYI, he sold BMR in 2007 as it just got so big, so fast....and has been our lead product design engineer ever since. So all of these parts, Brett is the man behind the scenes with the designs. Naturally, I work along side him with the S550 (and the new Camaro!) to ensure the final offering is the best value for the consumer. ;)

This is basically my setup. Car feels miles apart from the stock handling.

Having done it with Steeda parts I think just about anything you can do to solidify the rear subframe and IRS and manage the wheel hop are the best targets of opportunity and more affordable than just about anything else. Next it was rear sway bar.
Together totally transformed the rear of the car.
