I received a recall letter from Ford yesterday saying they wanted to replace the BCM module on my 22' GT. Has anyone on here also received this notice and if so, do you plan on doing it? I normally would not care, but I have a Wengerd tune and I am not sure if taking it in would kill my tune. I also could just take it off and get this done, but since my car is a 22" it is a little more complicated taking the tune off and reinstalling it. Any opinions on whether or not this is something that needs to be done? By the way, I like how my Wengerd tune handles the 10R80 and don't want to screw it up.

Wouldn't this question be better directed to Wengerd?

i would stock out and get at least 60 key cycles and mention at the dealer you only drive the car cross country and you do very long trips lol. i need the bcm the clock spring ect like 5 things but im not bringing it in. what i will do is ill wait until the warenteey is up then ill bring it in for them to do all the recalls. they will notice the key count low. how many miles are on it? also if the car isnt acting out then its not important.

tldr stock out and drive for a month in stock trim before going in or wait till warenteey is up

Replace the BCM or re-flash the BCM?

Not doubting the recall. Just curious why they need to replace the unit.

There were at least two recalls involving BCM re-flashes for that year. One involved something with steering input. The other, to fix a bug involving low brake fluid levels.

Do you have the ability to flash to stock for the dealer, then flashback (pun intended).

Can you post a copy of the recall notice? Thanks.

I am not worried about the warranty since I am at 41,000 miles. I don't have the notice with me right now, but I will see if I can post it later. I am pretty sure it said replace not reflash which I thought was a little out of the norm also. I am also aware of the recall on the brake fluid low indicator and power steering, just haven't went to do them because of the pain to take the tune off and time. I may contact Wengerd to see about removing it and reinstalling so I can get htese taken care of. There is a difference in the 22's that want just let me remove or install the tune without plugging in the laptop and getting some specified instructions from Wengerd. I think the EPA made them lock it down a little more than what I had on my 19" which was no problem.

I received notice today.

I will save the letter and leave things as-is.

I know they can flash my BCM; they did that as part of a recall last year. As to the other concerns, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
