Im thinking of adding the bbk shorty headers to my 2016 v6 mustang. I already have a roush cai, axle back flowmaster outlaw exhaust and the unleashed 93 octane tune. What would I really get out of the bbk shorty headers? Deeper sound in exhaust and tad more torque?

You will get a louder tone but, if you wanted a deeper tone, save a little extra and get the Long tubes + H-pipe. The Catted H-pipe with long tubes is what I'm about to install (Just waiting on the Catted H-pipe to come in the mail any day now).

I don't know, from all the vids ive seen, the long tubes have a very raspy high pitched type sound.

I did bbk shorties, and it really mellowed/deepend the tone. also, you will pick up some decent mid range tq, and a little hp up top. the long tubes more a little more hp on top, but they don't make any more tq than the shorties do. IMO the long tubes cost way too much for the benefits...but that's just my opinion. I also don't care for how raspy they sound (in the videos anyways) never heard one in person. I also went with shorties, because here in comifornia, we have to pass smog, so I needed to be able to keep my stock cats when needed. I did do lethal catless mid pipes, but changing just the mid pipes to stock for a smog check is a whole lot easier than doing headers. that's really only a issue if your area has smog checks....and the price of a long tube setup with a catted mid pipe is just crazy

I have to respectfully disagree. I have a few friends on my base (Americans-We are stationed in the UK), and we all have mustangs. One of my friends has Shorties and the other has Long tubes. The Sound is a lot different but I do not hear the rasp from the Long tubes, not at all. The problem with internet videos is that the microphones on these cell phones can't accurately capture the proper Frequency range and provide an accurate sound to judge from. (I am an Audio Engineering Grad). In person, the Long tubes by far sound a lot deeper than the shorties But, I have only heard them with Catted-H-mid pipes. The X-pipes are meant to be the raspy ones. Having a Cattless system will also increase the sound and rasp so I would suggest a Catted H-pipe and a good Axleback known for having minimal drone, like Roush, NOT FLOWMASTERS...

When I install my BBK Catted H-pipe and heat wrapped BBK Long Tubes, I will try and pull out my Macbook and recording equipment to upload a more accurate sound file.

Yes you will get a little more torque and a sound change. The shorty headers are one of the best mods for the v6. It gives a little torque down low and in the mid range where the car needs it.

I prefer the sound of the X, to me it has a smoother deeper tone down low, but sounds all kinds of pissed off past 4k. to me it has a more exotic type sound, where as to me, the h pipe setups just sound like loud v6's :p but again, that's just my personal opinion. I like the rasp up top. and I only get drone below 2k with my catless x pipe setup. on the frwy, you almost cant hear the exhaust. the hp gains of the long tubes really arnt worth the cost imo. from what ive seen, they might make 10hp more...on a NA motor. on a supercharged motor youd probably see a lot more.

How easy of install were your shorties? Headers and exhaust are my next engine mods after I get my car back.

I've heard the BBk shorties are a total PITA to install. Hooker also sells shorty headers, haven't seen anyone on this board or anywhere else talk about them.

Well ill be honest....the driverside is cake. The passenger side sucks a bit. I had to drop the starter to get to the nuts. Took about 3.5hrs.

BBK can be had ceramic coated, and they are equal length, and they are cheaper than Hooker. I'm seriously considering Hookers cat back exhaust but I'm not sold on their headers.

I don't think that Hooker's are expensive for a hand made American header. The BBK are just a lot cheaper, coated, and appear to be a better design for a NA motor. For my supercharged motor I have no idea which one would perform better.
