Why is this necessary? I have never had to do this on a car before. It's a hi tech tuner from Kenne Bell and I am wondering why. Can I just load it without the battery charger? It's a brand new battery and car....I searched and found nothing.

I think they're probably just trying to ensure that you don't brick your ecu by accidentally letting the battery go dead (thus, your ecu going dead) mid-flash.

Yes was just told by them it is for safety and the cars battery is the main inside. Sing mine is new I feel confident I don't need the charger. Be right back.... Let's see if I brick that Bitch

If your using the SCT which can take a relatively long time to load the tune, you run the chance of draining your battery and either A) Not being able to start your car afterwards, which happened to me even tho my car was just a few months old, or B) killing the battery before the tune is done loading and yes, bricking your ECU. Best to play on the safe side and get a battery tender for $15 off amazon.
