All amplifiers should be wired to the battery. You then run the "remote" turn on wire (blue) to a power source that shuts off when the ignition is not in the run or accessory position.

Rear deck factory speaker wire works, but I’m not sure if the rear deck speakers are separately amplified in your car and If that would matter.

I have a base model, so doubt it's amplified. Can you also tap into the rear speakers for input ?

Just do a fuse tap into the #23 fuse in the fuse box on passenger side.

Yes you can for input. I tapped the passenger rear speaker of a Ford Expedition I used to have for the input signal to a RF Punch 150 amp on a single 10” dual voice coil Kicker L7 (square) sub. Sounded great. I however ran a separate power on input wire for that amp.
If you can pull from a key on source for the amp on/off it is definitely better though. I’m starting to think I remember having static issues periodically with using the speaker tap for the turn on signal to the amp. Using the speaker wires for your hi level inputs though is perfectly fine and I’ve done it for years.

You are probably correct when pertaining to the base. I learned fast that things I could do with the systems in other cars don't work in the Mustangs...I do have the B&O though. If you tapped into one of the rear speakers of the B&O you are in for a surprise as to what is being outputted, as your subwoofer and amp would hate you
