I've been reading a lot of posts where folks complain that mpg definitely doesn't meet label claim for the ecoboost as well as being hard pressed to find dyno readings that match label claim for Hp and torque on a premium EB.

I get that a lot these figures are subjective to different circumstances such driving style, weather temp etc. But the prevalent reasoning behind the difference in numbers seems to be directed at the fact that the premium EB adds so much weight.

Does anyone know the weight diff between a base model EB and the premium one with all the bells and whistles, and is it significant enough to affect mpg/hp/torque by say 5% or more?

Almost certainly it would be in the noise, much more dependent on your driving style.

????Weight has nothing to do with HP or torque numbers. The numbers given by dynos are what the car is putting down at the wheels and the rated HP/Tq numbers (310/320) are taken at the crank. All cars put down less than the stated numbers at the wheels due to drivetrain loss.

Edit: and as for gas mileage I think they are pretty spot on 25mpg for mixed driving. I see 30mpg on long hwy trips and between 22-25 with some very spirited mixed driving. For the first few hundred miles it wasn't as good but it has been getting better now that I just passed 2K miles

My base EB has a little over 2000 miles on it and I consistantly see over the window stick mpgs. I have seen 24+ mpg the last two tanks, each one higher than the previous - and this is all city driving. Although a short trip, the ~2-3 hour round trip to Denver and back netted me ~39mpg. It is fair to note i use 91 octane, as 93 is impossible to find here.

The more you can stay under boost, the higher it's gonna go. As I have it longer, I think i'm getting a feel for driving it under better without having to watch the meter. To be fair, there are bits of spirited driving in there as well, but not as much as I'd normally do with all the ice and snow we've had lately.

Edit: And the hp/torque... I think that's because (from reading here on the forums) that Ford listed the numbers from the crank, whereas the numbers you're seeing here are at the wheel which will always be lower due to loss between the crank and the wheel.

^^^91 octane at your altitude is equivalent to 93 octane at sea level.

You'd have to add quite a bit more weight to affect the fuel mileage any. The key, as has been said, is to stay out of boost. The more you're in boost, the quicker the fuel mileage will suffer.

The weight added by the premium trim isn't enough to affect how the power feels. If you added 500+lbs, then you may notice it be a little slower.
