Anybody else think this will be one of the fastest? The lower weight from all the heavy premium features like subwoofers, seat heaters, 1000 lights etc etc etc. Also small 18" wheels. Add 3.55 gears and Im thinking performance pack or not itll be one of the fastest.

I would tend to agree with you. Although a base manual GT with PP only and the 3.73 gears might be right there. :)

Help me understand this. You recommend not getting the 3.55s? Its only $500 so I was thinking good deal and I thought itd be faster to 60. My hemi with 3.73s is so much better than the stock gears.

Fastest as in speed? Or quickest to say 60 mph or 1/4 mile?

I would put my money on a base GT auto w/3.55 over base GT auto w/Recaros and the 3.15's. 80 pounds is significant but that ratio should sufficiently negate that and give it the edge.

JMO. ;)

3.55's will get you quicker acceleration at the expense of mileage and top speed. I ordered the 3.55's w/ the automatic.

In daily use the 3.55's are nice because the pick up. It has been proven however that this car(11-14's) is fastest mod for mod with the auto and 3.15 gears. I also said recaros because that will shed some weight to make up for the added weight of the auto.

Remember that is the "old" model on SLA. I think we will see a difference with IRS. I'd even take you up on a friendly race if we were closer. Mine will even have a little extra weight with some options I chose. Besides, 3.55's weren't offered on automatics from 11-14 were they? Correct me if I'm wrong. If you like extra step off the line, don't mind worse mileage and will hit your local dragstrip a few times, I'd recommend the 3.55's. :)

Although I suppose I should be talking it down to secure my combo as the "quickest". ;) :D

Regardless of wheel size all 2015 Mustang tire diameters are 27".

Base GT auto with 3.55s checkin in! I mainly race at an 1/8th mile track but I am sure I will get out to a 1/4 every couple months or so. I'll let you know how she does ;)

Id happily take that wager my friend! I am interested to see how this IRS stacks up to the old yet proven SRA. Also, the gearing is the same on the auto as It was previously, so the rear end gear choices should replicate the same performance. Its a matter of traction and wheel hop issues at this point given the new rear end architecture.

I agree, it will likely hold its own. The base GT gets dinky 235 width all season tires, which certainly aren't going to help it. At least the PP adds much wider, stickier rubber. The new launch control feature will help the manual with traction/launch consistency as well, compared to the previous gen.

Yup that's why new wheels and rubber will be the first order of business for me.

See last quote below, the 18's wheel and tire is likely lighter than the 19's & 20's. It will suffer having 235 width vs. either 265 (20's) or 275 (19's in PP). Still very nominal differences. :)

My local is an 1/8 mile as well. Let us know. :)

Would be fun to get together. We are quite a distance from each other though. Open invitation. :)

Another reason I chose the 20 inch wheels. 265 width vs. 235 width albeit at a slightly greater weight and rotational inertia. Its also why I chose the 3.55 gears to offset the heavier 20 inch stock wheel/tire combo.

Very close.. the 18's are also lighter

235/50-18 27.2"
275/40-19 27.5"
265/35-20 27.3"
