I purchased a base Comp Orange GT that I pick up very soon.
I like the look of the rear bumper extension cover on the premium cars. I ordered the bumper extension and I am hoping it can be modded to fit the base bumper since they are very similar.

Anyone have two cars side by side to check?

It won't. The base bumper is one single piece including the splitter. The separate prem splitter can’t just go over it.

I think you have to order the premium bumper and then the extension.

Base bumper is one piece.

If you do this mod, PLEASE make a thread for us with the process, parts needed and ordered, cost and photo walk-through. Many of us might go base and make this modification. :)

Can someone share a pic of the base bumper and a pic of the premium bumper and point out what the OP is referring to?

The matte black piece is more agressive looking. Got it. The premium bumper really is much better.

The blue base gt is mine. Not as nice as the premium but with $12 worth of plasty dip will look identical

I will see what it takes. If it is doesn't work I bet there is a aftermarket piece that fits after a couple months. They made one for the 13-14 so it makes sense these cars will have one.

I thought the same thing. The bumper was $170. I will try it and if not just spray it.

Yeah on dark colors like Magnetic, Guard, DIB you barely notice the difference cause the overall shaped is almost exactly the same but on reds, yellow, white it really stands out.

Tri Yellow base:

Im so glad ford decided to cut down on the amount of black plastic on the Mustang's over the years. I remember when the 2010's and 2011's came out there was a TON of black raw plastic on the bottom of the car, including the rocker panels, and it was A PAIN to clean and keep it looking good.
