I won a Barton from the drawing that they have for military men and women!! I was super excited, but for some reason I don't feel like installing it. is it really that huge of a difference? I have sat in someones car that has it installed, and the throw was super short and it was way stiffer. I did not get to drive it though.
I don't want to install because I don't want to void transmission or powertrain warranty. but the other half says you have the damn thing, just install it. Part of me wants to sell it and get a tuner and tune but then I run into the whole power train warranty issue again.
advice?
first world problems. I know.

I won that shifter too and I say install it! I love it! It will loosen up after use from its original stiffness. Why do you say it will void transmission or powertrain warranty? Thought of selling mine too prior to install and thought that was a little messed up so I installed it....glad I did. ;)

I just thought it would because basically if you tune or add aftermarket parts that contribute to a catastrophic failure then its on you to pay. its a whole new shifter. ford could easily point the blame to the aftermarket short throw and say "the MT82 was not designed for that shifter" or vice versa.
that being said, im still on the fence. I agree, selling may be a slap in the face. maybe a trade?

I'm sure Ford could find a way to say the aftermarket shifter would be the cause if there were to be problems but I wouldn't be worried about it. Worst case scenario... keep the stock set up and if your trans or drivetrain have issues re-install. INTSALL IT is basically what I am saying! lol

A shifter WILL NOT Void your warranty. Heck, the 2011-2014 Mustang GT FRPP Shifter.. is made by Barton.

Magnuson & Moss Act. They have to prove the part is the cause of your issue.

Yeah not gonna lie to be honest you put your name in the drawing knowing you can win a Barton, selling it would be pretty messed up to do. The right to do is if you are not going to install it is give it to someone in the military, like it was intended for.

Just my 2 cents about it.

Lol I'd take it if you wanted to give it away but I wouldn't be butt hurt if you sold it. It's yours and you're free to do what you want with it regardless of others opinions. I have military gear that was issued to me free of charge and when I get out you best bet I'm going to sell what I don't need.

Install it !!! I won too and I was actually near Barton Industries and they installed it. You can remove the lower tension Springs so it isn't too stiff but I have them all in and love it very much. Much more positive shift and a blast to drive !!

Install it!! We installed our Barton shifter after a few missed shifts at the track with the stock one. What a difference. No more sloppy feel to it. The shifter is precise and has a much shorter throw.

We've got plenty of them in stock as well for anyone interested. Use coupon code: MUSTANG6G during checkout for your forum discount.

Spoke with Barton at Mustang Week and thanked them for doing this for you guys that served. And thanks from me too!
But they said that they can set the spring tension up to stock specs, or close to it if wanted. I too did not care for the tight spring tension.
