Hey guys!

So it's been a few months since I've owned a 2018 GT and I'm starting to get fed up with the loudness of the backing up beep while parking...it comes from the rear dash (speaker / s) - its very loud!

Does anyone know where we can reduce the volume from? Turn it off?

Sometimes I have a pleasant backing up beep coming from around the steering wheel and I'd prefer to only have that one...

Thanks!

You can use forscan to send it to the default speaker (behind the instrument cluster). It is not as loud.

Sometimes the car sends it there randomly for unknown reasons.

Mine comes from the dash and is very subdued and pleasant compared to the one on my 2012 GT.

Does you know the code for sending it to the default speaker?

Thanks

I agree, the sound is horrible. I reported it to Ford, but if there is a Forscan code I would just get them to change. I will watch the thread and see if anyone can tell us.

I'll do the same, hope there is a code. If not, there is another way; find where the beeps are coming from (which speaker) and isolate it a little (soundproof it) so it's not as loud.

But then you basically soundproof a speaker that is used for playing songs in the car..

I checked the FSM. It says the parking beeps are played through both rear speakers of coupes. The frequency of the beeps increases as the car to object distance decreases. The FSM doesn't show/say anything about ever using front speakers so why/how that is happening with some cars ???? The system is supposed to mute other audio as needed.

I guess it is loud because the whole point is to get the driver's attention. :-)

I wish I could answer your question/s, but I have no idea myself...the best way is to report to ford or to a dealership and ask them..

I don't mind it being loud, but it is literally so loud that I am pretty sure an aircraft flying overhead would be drowned out.

Sensor beeps too loud is a crybaby opinion however missing front sensors when competing products have had them for half a decade...sure, that's equal logic.

Then we are just going to disagree. The 2015-2017 reverse tone is different than the 2018. Ford made a change and it was a bad one being talked about in this forum.

I don’t disagree that we need front parking sensors but that wasn’t the subject here. You wanted to come in and tell all of us that we were babies for having an issue with a change. I’m telling you that if you don’t have anything productive to add to simply move on.

You don't even need to know the code. FORscan comes with most of the popular options in a simple programming menu. You just need one of those ODBII readers with a toggle switch and a half hour of trying to make sense out all the online technical docs. Order the scanner and get a forscan account as it takes a day or two for them to approve your account. They issue keys for free that are good for something like 90 days.

I'm not an expert but would be happy to help out with any questions.
