Back up camera, no go

Next Friday, Car going in to to have Back up camera repaired.. So it has been hit or miss if it switched on upon entering reverse. This morning Screen was flickering like a old horror movie then went black. Pretty Sad, 12000 miles and in for repairs, again. Anyone else running into issues like this?

I just set up my appointment for 8AM tomorrow for the dealership to look at it. I'll report back.

I just got an update from the dealership. I dropped the car off at 0800 today and they're still working on it. The dealership will be keeping my car overnight and through tomorrow evening to figure out the electrical side of things.

I miss the car and am paranoid already.

I'll keep you guys posted what the repair procedure is after all of this.

After this, I can look into a MGW shifter. It would have been a poor excuse for why the camera doesn't work.

I just got back from the dealership. My car was taken in Wednesday at 0800 and picked up at 1430 today. When I asked how involved the repair is, the service guy said his guy had hell trying to fix the camera. I asked him how many man hours his guy spent on this headache warranty repair, but he declined to tell me and he just cringed. I told him that I looked at it, but decided not to try and fix it myself after seeing all the plastic pins I would tear up to get to the wire loom.

He said his guy changed out the wire going to the camera, but the camera still doesn't work properly. He said he is going to order me a new camera and said it should be in next Friday for me to take the car back.

Inside the shop, I made sure to thoroughly check the car before I went home because I am paranoid about stuff getting torn up, and the service guy later told me "your baby is my baby". Haha. Damn right.

You may want to take a look at mavlon tech's camera to see if you could find any that satisfy your needs. I have been using their cameras in my driveaway for the past 2 years and they have been working great.

I brought mine in for the camera issue today. They said they needed to replace the camera but its on backorder till june.

Mine started doing this as well a couple of months ago but seemed to fix itself. Last week it started flickering real bad then went back to normal. I guess my camera is on its way out. :frusty:

once mine stayed on the entire time i drove the car, it was interesting watching it while i drove down the street. thats the only issue i have had

Mine suddenly displayed a perfect still of my parking space at work from very early that same morning! I had been on a road trip for many hours and was backing out of a rest stop when the image flickered on, with the lower half of the screen a solid blue. Still heard the beeping alert as cars moved through the parking lot but the image stayed as long as I was in R. Felt very creepy and big-brothery. It fixed itself later in the day. :shrug: This was in March 2015. Dealer found nothing wrong. No problems since.
