I have a 2020 GT500 with the B&O system. A local installer is attempting to install several new components, but they are running into some difficulties. The components are:
- JL The Fix 86
- JL XD600 amp
- Alpine X Series Components
- Alpine R series coaxial (rear deck)
- Infinity mids
- JL w1 10in sub in factory box
The initial problem was humming and other noise at any volume. The Fix didn’t seem to be working with the B&O signal well. The installer then tried relocating the ground and installed two resistors immediately prior to the fix. The sound is improved, but there is still some humming and a noise that sounds like a small stream of water — the noise does not change with throttle blip, etc. The tech fed a signal from his phone via RCA, and the sound was pure, so the issue seems to be between the factory amp and the aftermarket amp.
The tech is planning to try re-routing signal wires, among other changes. He spoke to a rep at JL, but their suggestions have yet to pay off.
For those that have upgraded the B&O, have you encountered this issue. Did you use the JL Fix or did you use the Nav TV Zen? They do not list any model for the mustang’s B&O system, so I would appreciate a part/model number if you went this direction and it worked.
Thanks in advance!
