Hey guys I’m looking to get a whipple kit for my 2021 Gt in the upcoming month or so and I’ve seen a few videos recently of guys saying they had to upgrade to a single piece driveshaft and new axles but I don’t see much talk of that on here as common practice , are these additions needed when adding forced Induction , thanks !

I think your fine with stock half shafts and the 2-piece driveshaft UNDER 700 wheel.

Okay well that’s good to know , is there any other drivetrain parts I should be looking into replacing . The car will be street driven often and once and a while taken to the drag strip

Differential bushings, shifter, Whiteline transmission bushing insert, polyurethane motor mounts and a driveshaft safety loop. It’s also my understanding that you will tear the factory differential bushings over time with repeated launches.

There is one more thing; when drag racing, you will want to run bias ply tires out back (if tranny is a manual) or drag radials (if tranny is an auto).

Mines a manual , what do you mean by bias ply , like larger in the back ?

A bias ply tire allows sidewall flex and will absorb the shock of the driveline on a manual car when launched, whereas a radial tire is stiffer and will shock the drivetrain much harder, thus increasing the chances of parts breakage (i.e. half shafts and/or driveshafts).

Yes you want the fuse in the link to be the tires with the MT82 trans. Bias ply tires do that job very well.

Now the thing is finding a good bias tire that can hook. If you lock down the rear end well with parts that stop the hopping, a drag radial can be used for the dig on the street.

A lightweight one piece driveshaft isn't required but guys will swap them to have something stronger than the stock ds, save some rotational weight or a combo. Axles are upgraded because the hard launching at the track is hard on the stock axles; the initial bite is what gets them. Even guys with stock/ bolt ons have broken axles at the track just due to hooking.

With more power and making trips to the track it isn't a bad idea to swap to stronger drivetrain components.

I keep DSS driveshafts and axles in stock, I also have QA1 driveshafts in stock along with GForce Renegade axles.

Feel Free to DM me or call with any questions.
