Been talking to them all day, know the history of that car inside out. I did actually have it for 4 days prior to it meeting its maker in a field

I drove that same car, too. Another reason not to get an Ex-Demo is that people like me have zero mechanical sympathy for demo cars. That poor thing was thrashed from here to next Tuesday.

I have been talking to Autocar and they told me that they only found out yesterday that the car had been crashed. Also they said that they will be pushing to get a new car and that it seems likely.
Nice work. The article indicates the author paid for the car himself. Whether he or the magazine paid for it shouldn't matter.......I hope they put the situation right.

Anyone know the legal position? Do you have to declare a car's been in an accident? The repair may well not have gone through the dealer's insurance. I was always led to believe it's down to the buyer to carry our due-diligence and get a history check.......but if it didn't go through insurance, surely it wouldn't appear on a check?

The issue is he noticed some issues and asked them outright if it had been accident repaired to which they said no.

Repeatedly denying it. It did go through their insurance, took months to get the parts. Sat in the corner of the bodyshop compound looking sorry for itself. Everytime my car went up there for another bumper respray I caught glimpses of it on my dashcam

I wonder if he ever mentioned he was a journalist for auto car to the sales man. I'm sure that must have come up in conversation at some point.
I just hope the salesman didn't knowingly sell a journalist a crash repaired car without declaring it! This is going to be a big embarrassment for Ford

Indeed, particularly as the article was pretty positive on the whole and a good advertisement....Wonder what the next article will say:(

Yes, you most certainly do - especially if the purchaser asks outright whether it has been damaged.

Doesn't reflect well on the dealer :tsk:.

I guess a dealer would have a level of deniability on a car they've taken on part-exchange, but to not disclose for a car they've had since new...well that's just low...

in and of itself, a few minor repairs would not neccessarily be a problem or a cause for concern... however by the sounds of things the amount of damage caused and the ongoing problems the car was having because of it, clearly they should have handled it differently

A dealer is under and obligation to make anything of note affecting the car to the purchaser. There is a long history of 911 gt3 being wrecked re shelled and sold on. To the point that one of the major forums has a running thread of track damaged gt3 to avoid members getting burnt. A couple of Porsche dealers have had their collars felt for this and it is pretty clear this a major fubar on behalf of the dealer. Imaging they wil get cained for this in terms of compo as it is basically fraud.

Andybarratt - this and the warranty saga really is not good for brand image can you make a statement on here about the plans to up the game of your mustang dealers

Just to be clear (in case someone doesn't read the whole thread).......the Kent Mustang dealer is NOT the one who sold the repaired car to the Autocar journalist.....that was a different dealer and a different crashed S550 :)
Other sides of the country a d other colours... and other specs. Kents was a dib eco iirc.
