Is there a difference in the S mode using the shifter vs the S+ using the toggle switch in an Automatic? They seem pretty much the same to me, but it is easier to use the shifter.

s+ puts your car in sport plus mode: which gives more aggresive gear shifting and holds revs... and changes ur steering to sport mode...

So you can leave your shifter in "D" and change it to "S" or "S+" with the switches and still be OK??

Mostly. But if you leave the shifter in D, it will behave aggressively when it's shifting itself. However, it doesn't hold gears if you paddle shift. Gotta have the shifter in S (no matter the drive mode) if you want the paddle-selected gears to hold.

Only took me 11,000 miles to notice that difference.

When the shifter is in "D" you cannot select the "S" drive mode. The available drive mode in the "D" shifter position are "NORMAL", "S+", "TRACK", and "SNOW/WET". For the the "S" shifter position the available drive modes are "S", "S+", and "TRACK".
