I had speakers replaced on Friday, but the factory wiring was used and the impedance is the same, so I rather doubt that is the source of the problem. It might have triggered a series of events that exposed the problem, though. With the better speakers (JL Audio) installed, I listened to a CD for the first time yesterday. When I came out of work, everything was fine. This morning the radio tuner came on, and the display was set to the Home screen. Everything responds except the Audio button. The only audio control that works is the volume dial. The only thing I can think of is that it was the first time ever starting the car in the dark with a CD in the drive. Could night mode with a CD have confused the H/U?
Anyone else ever experience something like this?

Edit: Just went out to the car on break in full daylight. Everything works normally. The CD I was listening to yesterday afternoon played when the car started. I'm curious as to what happens in the morning.

It has nothing to do with night mode.
Almost every time I leave a CD in the drive, the Audio button acts like it's disabled. The odd thing is that there is no predictability as to what, if anything, will play.
Fortunately, removing and reinserting the disc seems to clear it up. I'm guessing that reading the disc on insertion triggers the audio to wake up.
I found similar complaints on a Lincoln website.

As of last night, it has nothing to do with a CD in the drive as the source of the problem.
Completely random. I had been listening to satellite radio and went into a store. I came out and the H/U was locked up. Display says audio is off but the FM radio is playing. The touchscreen and the power button both do nothing. The volume knob was the only thing working.
This morning, it's working fine.

I had an issue last week. Started my car and the radio comes on (I always leave it on), but the entire touch screen is black with white text. Nothing works on the screen, though. I was able to turn the radio off using the button below the touch screen, but the radio would not power back on. What worked was turning the car off and letting it sit for about five minutes.

Maybe I need to update the SYNC software, too, but that's a helluva thing to happen to a car I've owned for less than five months. Then again, the Nav maps and speed limits are grossly out of date (by YEARS!), so who knows...

It's up to date according to the Ford website.
I'm using a Windows phone. Any known issues with those and SYNC?

There hasn't been a known issue with Windows phones and SYNC, so I have to recommend taking the vehicle to the dealer for a more hands on approach.
