The brz will remain n/a.

If you're worried about the civic now, you should have been worried about the mk7 gti. Tuned that thing will walk circles around an EB. The electronic diff is very capable, it weighs at least 500 lbs less and tuned makes the same hp.
Agree. I've owned GTI's and they are incredible cars, and tune nicely...but front wheel drive so they spin like crazy off the line and cornering under throttle can be unmanageable. The BRZ is nice but too small and Subaru has already said many times they throw minimal money at development these days, so I'd be surprised to see the BRZ with that much HP.

I feel like Nissan is going going to bring out a monster of a car down the road. The 370 is such a fail. A loaded 2015 nismo Cost about 42k if I'm not mistaken.

You guys know that Mustangs don't automatically beat every other car on the road right? And that it's ok that it doesn't right? All this and the Civic Type R will almost certainly be priced in GT territory where it will be demolished. The EB is one of the best performance bargains in the US. Doesn't mean that cars that cost more won't be faster.

50k i think, that's why no one buys the nismo, i loved the Z, more refined version of the 350. I do hope the new Z is a good one though.

Wow 50k is hard to swallow for that kind of car. Sure the new 2015 nismo looks badass but the cars still not impressively fast. I checked out a new base 370 and sticker was around 32k. I was coming from a modded 350z. For that price I felt like its kind of the same car just with a little more spunk to it. Then the mustang showed up into my life.

Some one at Honda needs to get up and out of the opium den if they think people are going to drop mid 30s on a civic. You will get a select few who do but not many. There are lots here in WI with multiple brand new Evo Xs that can't be moved due to their insanely high sticker price.

And anybody who will blast a car for being FWD without actually looking into the Type Rs are fools.
I love Honda products...for daily drivers. Fwd is great in the snow. The company is quite innovative, and usually has a great balance of power to fuel economy. I only hope the best for their F1 engine program which has been lackluster thus far.

Nurburgring times have no bearing on whether I find a car appealing, it's debating a metric only a small percentage of owners might possibly aspire to, since most owners dont make their living as professional drivers.

In the real world, a little stoplight acceleration dance w/ any fwd car w/ a little power ends w/ the fwd car spinning...sometimes horribly. The physics simply work against it.

I tend to agree, putting it's hideous appearance aside.

Ford. Ford is for cars. EVERYONE comments on my Mustang, I get thumbs up, I've had off-duty cops come on over and check it out and admire, young and old love it. Don't see that around Civics!

Honda. Honda is for motorcycles. Reliable, they fit well, they run well, they get good mileage, they are not finicky and prone to uber-expensive fixes (like BMW and HD), and just do what they're supposed to do.

And that's what lives in my garage!

Nah, not at all. Going and looking at actual test times around the 'ring, you find MULTIPLE GT-Rs well under the Honda time. And of course the magazine doesn't report on those... Nor the other models that turned in better times.

It seems they cherry-picked the worst runs ever for a given model and used that as representative. For the GT-R, they picked a dog of a time. Most of the GT-R times were significantly faster, and done on street-legal tires in full street-trim. The Honda? No legal tires and decidedly NOT street trim.

This article was done to pump up the Civic fans, to boost some controversy and get clicks. After all, since the new Civic R is faster than a GT-R or Corvette or Porsche 911 or Lamborghini, then all your average street-scene guy has to do is go buy the base Civic, add an electric supercharger (better than turbo, yo - no backpressure!), a resonator tip (at least 0.5 VTECs gain there), cut a coil or two out of the springs (better handling - like a race car), set toe-in to maximum, and add a "Type R" sticker to the back - and they have a 'ring-record setting Civic!

I would have gotten an evo x over my EB except...they are like 35k. if it had been around 29-30k OTD I would have went and bought one instead....but 35k for a base model? no way. Mitsubishi looks like its on its way out of the car industry anyways, they closed both of the dealerships in my city and one of the cities over. Thanks for the eclipse, 3000gt and evo, bye bye mitsu.

I'm with you there. Top up it's "meh". Down it's gorgeous. Thankfully I live where I can run the top down 90% of the time!
