So, been hearing a lot of news about the upcoming 2016 cars, mainly the new civic type r and the new brz sti, both of which are talking about 350+hp? Makes me somewhat rethink having the EB? Anyone else kinda upset over this news? Just hate the idea of our 4cylinder mustangs getting smashed by a civic Lol :headbonk:

Civic is fwd. Not competition imo...plus I'm too tall to fit in them anyway...ha

BRZ STi...believe it when I see it. I think it's been stated numerous times there would be no turbo version...so it seems tuning potential will either be limited n/a, or fairly expensive for a power adder of some sort.

I agree with the fwd not really being competition, but I've seen some pretty quick hot hatches...gotta make ya wonder still. And the brz sti, if produced as I mentioned, would be quite the monster compared to our EB's..

The brz will remain n/a.

If you're worried about the civic now, you should have been worried about the mk7 gti. Tuned that thing will walk circles around an EB. The electronic diff is very capable, it weighs at least 500 lbs less and tuned makes the same hp.

BRZ sti is NA and will come with suspension mods. Still pitiful for power. Handling is amazing though.
Civic is supposed to be in the 300s but it's FWD.

Never quite thought of the gti lol, totally slipped my mind!:headbonk: Dont get me wrong, I never expected the EB to be the all powerful 4cylinder,just would be somewhat of a disappointment/let down to see a civic walking us..lol

Are they fast? Maybe. But can they drop the top and enjoy a nice open cruise down the coast? No?

Then they lose...;)
I can't drop the top either brother haha

300 hp through the front wheels is borderline useless. Unless Honda uses some sweet diff trickery coupled with a good suspension set up, the car won't hook. Coming from a modded gti that made 280 hp I got shit for traction in 1/2nd with decent tires. I couldn't imagine another 20hp.

I suppose if Honda devises a way to have a later onset of boost it could be manageable too. Props to them for finally making a car with decent power.

Ok so we've determined that they're no good from a standstill, but rolling starts?

No I'm not saying that at all. There are fwd Hondas that run single second quarter mile times. If there is a will there is a way. Honda being honda could easily figure out a way to get 300hp to the ground. However, no one is really doing it right now. Hell there aren't many 4 bangers pushing more than 300hp stock(sti, Mercedes,...) the likely hood that the civic will spin it's wheels is good, however if Honda is set on putting a 300hp motor into its fwd car they must have plans on making it manageable.

It's all about aftermarket too. The EBM has a quickly growing aftermarket.

A rolling 20 or 40 the civic will likely walk away if it's 3k-ish lbs and makes a similar power band . it's all hypothetical for now tho.

I suppose we'll have to wait and see, and like you said the EB does thankfully have a rapid growing aftermarket so it should all be good, hopefully haha

Has anyone seen the new civic type R? If anyone thinks that car is better looking than the s550 better see your eye doctor asap.
