Okay, first of all, treat me like a technofobe. I am not clever when it comes to phone and PCs and stuff. I always have to get someone in the office to get outlook on my phone when I get a new one for example.

However, I want to get the max out of my Sync computer interface screen thing.

I read stuff like you can order pizza on the way home and there will be lots of 'apps' available.

What? When? How?

Do I download apps to my phone and then on to the sync thing? If so how?

What sort of apps are there?

I did work out (all by myself) how to download a new wallpaper to my screen. I even had to save the image in a new format (png I think) so I can follow instructions.

I feel like I have waffled a bit, I always do when I am trying to explain how thick and clever I am so to summarize,

Can people post on here what clever things you can do with Sync 2 with idiot proof instructions on how to do it??

I think as we are getting my ford touch with sync 2 that app link is not compatible

Quote " 63. SYNC® AppLink™ is available on select models and compatible with select smartphone platforms. SYNC AppLink is not compatible with MyFord Touch. Commands may vary by phone and AppLink software."

 so the apps you suggested won't work. You can stream via Bluetooth if you have the apps on your phone.

Happy to be proved wrong :)

Having driven a Chevy in the US with UConnect (Apple Carplay and Android Auto support) - plug in your phone, and a tailored version of the phone interface becomes available on the dash, I have to say it's a very nice feature.

Ford will support it in SYNC3 headunits. But it won't be available for SYNC2 (as shiping in RHD cars at the moment) - and SYNC3 isn't coming in RHD Mustangs until 2017.

I've heard it suggested there'll be an upgrade path from SYNC2 to SYNC3 - I don't believe that though, as the SYNC3 interaction model requires a multi-touch cap-sense screen (for pinch/zoom, etc) and SYNC2 head units don't have one.

I told myself I'd wait until I'd done my test drive before ordering - I'm tempted to put it off a little longer to time it for 2017 deliveries because of this though - SYNC3 is a lot better.

There is no guarantee that Sync3 will be standard in 2017 - it took years for Sync2 to make it to Europe, and it is still standard on the base cars in the US...

It doesn't have to be standard, it only has to be an option (in the US, it's an option on the Mustang). I'd have thought Ford would at least want to offer it for their "halo" cars (Mustang/Vignale).

Anyway, I didn't just make up the 2017 - I asked the dealer, that's what he said. Of course, it'd be nice if Ford themselves passed some comment on it - it'd be nice if Mr Ford or one of his minions would chip in on this....

Of all the things I might have held off ordering my Mustang for, Sync 3 would not be one of them!
