Yeah, I've ordered a spare fuse pack as don't want to be stuck as a result of my own tinkering.

Anyone had another stab at the wiring?

One thing I have also noticed is that the unit doesn't always turn on automatically.

I'm waiting on others to try :) mine doesn't turn on automatically if the car has been stopped within about 15 minutes

Especially after you said this....

"I'm sure I also read that 36 was a bad bad fuse! 20A and breaks things when pulled? (Might have been 33)

Edit : maybe not, 33 looks like the one not to touch. 36 is 15a, auxiliary body module? "

Feel like I'm diffusing a bomb and don't know which wire to cut!

I've said it before, I'll say it again - take a fused link direct from the battery which will ensure the SJB isn't involved or affected.

The SJB has the ability to cut feed if it detects no load which could explain why the dashcam doesn't power up again (SJB can't see enough of a load on the circuit so doesn't supply feed).

Taking direct from the battery ensures constant (and safe if fused link) supply.

Seriously, if you don't really understand modern vehicle electrics you should leave well alone. Mistakes can be very costly!

EDIT - ordered the wrong size. Can't seem to find the micro2 fuses in the UK?

Indeed, you can't get them here. I had the same issue getting the mm2 fuse taps, ended up getting them off eBay, even though they're the correct type they still don't fit properly

Wired my up today, not tested it yet though.
My fuse taps didn't fit either, I just trimmed a bit of plastic all round with a Stanley knife, fits perfect now.

we have the thinkware 750,
cant get it working in park mode.
i had a quick look at the weekend to see if could run a wire to fusebox in engine bay, for constant power, but couldnt find anywhere through the bulkhead

Have you boys not tried wiring it up to the rear view mirrors like the US boys have?
Will wait to see what you boys get sorted and hope you do

I don't think the mirror provides constant power though? pretty sure that was one of the issues. Cam works ok normally (most of the time) just not in parking mode or motion detection. Also if you stop the car and restart it within about 10 mins the camera doesn't automatically power back up, have to power it on manually. Any longer than 10 mins and it'll power on itself, I don't understand that issue.

That is a weird one, someone out there must have hard wired their dash cam now, although wiring it directly to the battery will give you the constant power needed but then how much does it drain on the battery.....??
